This is exactly what happened when I visited the ghost town. I heard the sound of engines of Soviet tanks we were regularly watching as kids back COLOUR PHOTOGRAPHY SHOULDN’T BE THIS DIFFICULT I struggle to shoot colour. I don’t mean changing the camera out of monochrome mode, I mean pre-visualising colour and composing for colour. Sure, I know a cute sunset when I see it, but I don’t have the intuitive awareness to bring colour composition into my snaps and street photography with the kind of speed a fleeting moment mightrequire.
THE SURPRISING ABILITY OF THE FUJIFILM XC50-230MM F4.5-6.7 I’ve heard that a lot of folks are really tired of the word lockdown at this point in the UK. I’m one of them. We are ready for summer, ready to go places again, and ready to be with people again! With all regulations and precautions in place of course. That being said, I’d like to share with you an uplifting experience with Fujifilm’s budget zoom lens that helped me get through THE PERFECT EVERYDAY LENS? THE NEW FUJIFILM XF18MM F1.4 R The year was 2015, the last time Fujifilm launched an f/1.4 lens. The year before, Fujifilm released the XF56mm f/1.2, and then in 2015 revealed the mighty XF16mm f/1.4 R WR. For many Fujilovers, myself included, it looked like Fujifilm was going to release a slew of super-fast primes in the coming years. As we know, this did not prove true. To Fujifilm’s credit, they focused on rounding out USING FUJI EXCLUSIVELY FOR A WEDDING Until the XF 90mm f/2.0 R LM WR was released, I relied on my 5D mark III with the 135mm f/2.0 L for my longer telephoto needs. For those times where I would shoot an entire wedding with the 23mm and 56mm, I would still have the 5D3 in my bag as a “just in case”. It wasn’t that I didn’t trust Fuji, but the fact that I felt I needed a 3rd camera for backup in case things went sour. SHOOTING TIME-LAPSE VIDEO WITH THE FUJIFILM X-SERIES One of my favourite video techniques is time-lapse as it shows a different side to a scene, speeding up the moving elements to give an ethereal feel to the final video. I sometimes use time-lapse as just one part of the videos I produce. I use the technique to fast forward certain clips to shorten the time of that element or I use the time-lapse technique as the main part of a video. THE FUJIFILM JPEG CHALLENGE: SHOOTING ONLY STRAIGHT OUT OF I think many can agree, that one of the reasons we adopted the Fujifilm camera system is it’s amazing color science. I know when I first picked up a Fuji camera, I immediately went for the Film simulations and started tweaking settings to see how close I could get to a ready-made image, straight out of camera. I was quickly amazed by the JPEG results, and the level of detail and dynamic__ __
