Discover and embrace the unknown, the forgotten, and the beloved. 'RED ROOM #1' (REVIEW) Written and Illustrated by Ed Piskor. Published by Fantagraphics. Ed Piskor is really a comic book creator who is one of a kind. He does it all: writes, draws, letters, and colors. He is also able to skirt comfortably between independent and commercial comic book work. This book has been identified by Piskor as “Outlaw Comics.”. 'JUSTICE LEAGUE #61' (REVIEW) Ram V and Xermanico provide the back up Justice League Dark. The art upstages the main story. Ram V is doing a lot with just a little space. Some back up stories lack verve. Not the Justice League back up stories, that are worth the price of admission on their own. Justice League #61 is a bundle of entertaining action. It gets a B+ from me. 'STILLWATER BY ZDARSKY & PÉREZ #7' (REVIEW) Written by Chip Zdarsky Art by Ramon Perez Published by Image Comics The first story arc of this series was absolutely fantastic. It packed in so much excitement and fun that I 'RADIANT BLACK #4' (REVIEW) Written by Kyle Higgins Art by Marcelo Costa Published by Image Comics . Radiant Black #4 is an issue filed with some more plot development, a little bit more character insight, and some smashing superhero action.. However, it still feels like a book that uses previously developed superhero concepts piecemeal, while adding the twist of a down on his luck guy who has failed at adulthood. 'CRUMB’S WORLD' (REVIEW) Crumb’s World is a catalogue of a 2019 New York City gallery exhibition of the works of legendary artist R. Crumb. Love him or hate him, it’s impossible to deny Crumb’s importance in the world of comics and, these days, in the world of art. He is, of course, also a world class unfiltered commentator on any and all aspects of the human 'MONSTERS' BY BARRY WINDSOR-SMITH (REVIEW) Written and Illustrated by Barry Windsor-Smith Published by Fanatagraphics Books . I recently had an article in Back Issue where I wrote about how much fun it had been to watch young English artist Barry Windsor-Smith progress so quickly from his Steranko/Kirby-influenced Daredevil and X-Men to the lush neo-classical style he used for his ultimate Conan story, “RedNails.”
'THE SHADOW' BY JAMES PATTERSON AND BRIAN SITTS (REVIEW The Shadow By James Patterson and Brian Sitts Grand Central Publishing Release date: July 13, 2021 James Patterson has been the world’s bestselling novelist for quite a few years now. He’s written thrillers, adventures, romances, fantasies, children’s books, etc. THE HIDDEN DANGERS OF ONLINE QUIZZES: ALL THE TRUTH The Hidden Dangers of Online Quizzes: All the Truth Revealed. FOG! 'HEROES REBORN: NIGHT-GWEN #1; SQUADRON SAVAGE #1' (REVIEW 1 day ago · Heroes Reborn: Night-Gwen #1; Written by Vita Ayala Art by Farid Karami Heroes Reborn: Squadron Savage #1; Written by Ethan Sacks Art by Luca Pizzari Published by Marvel Comics. This week’s Heroes Reborn crossover tie-ins provided more enjoyable forays into the alt-reality where the Avengers never existed and everything’s upside-down wrong.. I am disappointed, however, that Night 'THE MYSTERY MEANEST TEACHER: A JOHNNY CONSTANTINE GRAPHIC Written by Ryan North Art by Derek Charm Published by DC Comics I see why the team of Ryan North and Derek Charm have both won Eisner Awards and created New York Times Bestsellers. Good for them, 'SPIDER-MAN: THE SPIDER'S SHADOW #3' (REVIEW) 1 day ago · Written by Chip Zdarksy Art by Pasqual Ferry Published by Marvel Comics This is a great spin done in the usual “What If?” fashion. Basically, the whole conceit behind the book is “What if Peter Parker had become Venom?” It 'WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY ARRIVES' ON 4K ULTRA Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced that the perennial family classic Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory will be released on Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack and Digital on June 29. Called a “genuine work of imagination” by Roger Ebert, the film stars Gene Wilder in one of his most famous roles. 'BATMAN: URBAN LEGENDS #4' (REVIEW) 1 day ago · Written by Chip Zdarsky, Camrus Johnson, Meghan Fitzmartin, Matthew Rosenberg Art by Eddy Barrows, Marcus To, Loyiso Mkize, Belén Ortega, Ryan Benjamin Published by DC Comics This anthology series is a cut above the rest. I love the stories in 'W.E.B. They were introducing the new black 'GEIGER #3' (REVIEW) 1 day ago · Written by Geoff Johns Art by Gary Frank, Brad Anderson Published by Image Comics So far, this has been a really interesting book, especially from 'THE NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE #1' (REVIEW) Written by James Tynion IV Art by Alvaro Martinez Published by DC Comics “How do you think the world will end?” I’d have a hard time ignoring a conversation starter like that. So 'HITMAN'S WIFE’S BODYGUARD' (REVIEW) 19 hours ago · The desire to hit action-comedy gold is high in these days of seemingly endless sequels. Who knows which summer hit will turn into the next incredibly lucrative Lethal Weapon series? But a bad sequel fails to replicate the magic balance of violence and laughs, giving the impression of 'SUICIDE SQUAD #4' (REVIEW) Written by Robbie Thompson Art by Eduardo Pansica Published by DC Comics This book has been fairly lame thus far. I was hoping for something with a little more of a charge to it but sadly, we haven’tgotten

ABOUT FOG | FORCES OF GEEK About FOG. Forces of Geek is the premiere geek culture community with columnists and contributors celebrating their own obsessions. In his book, Geeks: How Two Lost Boys Rode The Internet Out of Idaho, author Jon Katz defined geek as, “A member of the new cultural elite, a pop-culture-loving, techno-centered Community of Social Discontents. 'HEROES REBORN #5' (REVIEW) Written by Jason Aaron Art by R. M. Guera, Ed McGuinness Published by Marvel Comics . After the previous issue let the cat out of the bag that Mephisto is worshiped as the god in “god-fearin’ American,” this issue of the Heroes Reborn main title drops concentration on that.. Instead, for the most part we get a straightforward issue about Nighthawk, who is Marvel’s Batman. 'NOCTERRA #4' (REVIEW) Written by Scott Snyder Art by Tony S. Daniel, Tomeu Morey Published by Image Comics . Nocterra #4 features some of the tightest storytelling of the series so far.. While every issue has used one of Val’s memories as a framing device, this time we get a combination of Val’s emotional connection to her foster brother Emory as well as an illustration of how sometimes hope is rewarded.
