This gallery traces the history of Braniff International, one of America’s most colorful airlines, from its humble one-aircraft beginnings in 1928, through its worldwide expansion during the 1960s and 1970s, to its final flight in 1982. RICHARD W. CREE GALLERY The approximately 15,000 square feet that comprises the Richard W. Cree Gallery is the main display gallery of the Museum. This gallery takes up all floor space in the south building not assigned to CURTISS JN-4D "JENNY" Built by Liberty Iron Works of Sacramento, CA in 1916 and shipped to Love Field in 1918, Curtiss JN-4D “Jenny” Serial #4072 is the fourth from the last built by Liberty. CURTISS JN-4D "JENNY" Built by Liberty Iron Works of Sacramento, CA in 1916 and shipped to Love Field in 1918, Curtiss JN-4D “Jenny” Serial #4072 is the fourth from the last built by Liberty. SHOESTRING F1 RACER "TIME BANDIT" In 1949, Rodney Kreimendahl designed the Shoestring F1 Racer aircraft, a fast, nimble award-winning Formula 1 Class Air Racer. Considered one of the iconic midget racers, the Shoestring remains popular today in Formula 1 Air Racing. RAYTHEON 109C “TOMAHAWK” CRUISE MISSILE The “Tomahawk” is a U.S. Navy land attack cruise missile designed to be launched from surface ships and submarines. The Block III TLAM-C (“Tomahawk” Land Attack Missile) carries a conventional variant 1,000 pound class blast/fragmentation unitary warhead. Designed to fly at extremely low altitudes at high subsonic speeds, they are piloted over an evasive route by several mission UNITRON GFC-37M GROUND POWER UNIT (GPU) The Unitron GFC-37M Ground Power Unit (GPU) supplies power to a parked or hangared aircraft. Because pilots shortened the JN "jay-en" designation to "jen", most people referred to the single engine, two-seat training aircraft as "Jenny." ROCKET ASSISTED TAKE OFF (RATO) BOTTLE RATO or “Rocket Assisted Takeoff” is a type of assisted takeoff to help aircraft get airborne. Similarly, JATO stands for “Jet AssistedTakeoff”.

Sputnik 1 was humanity's first artificial satellite. The Soviet Union launched it into an elliptical low-earth orbit (LEO) on October 4, 1957. The successful launch shocked the world and ignited the Cold War space race that eventually led to landings on the Moon.
