Firenze è una città di origine romana e sorge sulle rive dell'Arno. Conobbe un
periodo di grande espansione economica, politica ed artistica nell'età Medievale e in quella Rinascimentale. La città è anche un luogo turistico dove sono noti molti monumentitra

Il giglio come simbolo di Firenze fu scelto nella seconda metà del XII secolo. In effetti Florentia non poteva che essere rappresentata da un fiore ed i fiori più diffusi in araldica erano la rosa e, appunto, il giglio. Il giglio fiorentino del gonfalone era originariamente bianco su sfondo rosso; fu mutato in rosso su sfondo bianco dai guelfi nel 1266, come segno di vittoria sui ghibellini; il nome botanico del giglio è Iris florentina. L'iris non a caso compare nello stemma della città perchè cresce copiosamente nei campi che la circondano. La mitologia narra che il giglio nacque da una goccia di latte caduta dal seno di Giunone mentre allattava il piccolo Ercole; il significato di questo fiore è, dunque, quello della purezza edella castitò.
L'abbondanza e la bellezza dei fiori fecero sì che i fiorentini finissero per affezionarsi all'Iris e per associarlo alla loro vita cittadina; che l'iris e non il giglio sia l'emblema di Firenze lo attesta anche il suo nome botanico Iris Florentina. Rosso in campo bianco o bianco in campo rosso, secondo il partito politico dominante, esso fu sempre l'unico valido simbolo della città e nel suo segno Firenze conquistò la libertà e l'onore. molto
più antica; già gli Egiziani ne coltivavano numerose varietàsulle sponde del Nilo ed i Greci ne ammiravano gli esemplari più belli e variopinti fra le rupi e le pietre dei templi. La cucina Toscana è famosa per i suoi piatti semplici preparati con grande maestria. Situata nel cuore della Toscana, nel centro Italia, Firenze è facilmente raggiungibile in Auto, in treno, bused
aereo. A pochi chilometri dal centro cittadino è infatti infatti presente l'aeroporto Amerigo Vespucci, (zona di Peretola). La fondazione della città risale al periodo Etrusco; nacque intorno al 200 a.C. come colonia dell'allora più importante città di Fiesole.
Durante il periodo dell'Impero Romano (Florentia) divenne colonia romana utilizzata per il controllo della via Flaminia, ma il vero sviluppo culturale, linguistico, sociale politico ed artistico si è avuto nel XIV e XV secolo. primavera da Marzo a Giugno e da Settembre a Ottobre, quando le giornate sono fresche e soleggiate, quando si puù camminare per il centro storico della città respirando appieno l'atmosfera che solo questa meravigliosa città riesce a trasmettere. Proprio per questo motivo la primavera è il periodo con maggiore afflusso di turisti. Durante il periodo estivo fa abbastanza caldo e molti fiorentini si spostano dalla città verso luoghi più freschi come la campagna o le colline circostanti. Se decidi di visitare la città ti consigliamo di passare almeno un giorno nelle dolci colline del Chiantio a
Fiesole; qui, oltre ad assaporare le prelibatezze tipiche della zona (come la bistecca ed il Chianti Gallo Nero) avrai la possibilità di rigenerarti e di fare il pieno di energie. Durante l'inverno la temperatura � abbastanza mite; una visita durante il periodo invernale è quindi abbastanza consigliata. L'artigianato Fiorentino è famoso in tutto il mondo; in special modo la lavorazione dell'oro ha una grande tradizione e delle origini molto antiche. Ancora oggi possiamo vedere sul ponte vecchio (l'unico rimasto intatto dopo i bombardamenti della seconda guerra mondiale) le botteghe degli orafi fiorentini che mantengono inalterate il loro aspetto e molto spesso lavorano ancora il materiale con le tecniche di un tempo.
