A little less than one year out from the 2020 presidential election, President Donald Trump faces a potentially grueling re-election campaign, but 53% of American Catholics plan to vote for him or are open to the possibility. That is just one finding in a first-ever EWTN News/RealClear Opinion Research poll that focuses on America’sCatholics.

Among all Catholics, Joe Biden remains the favorite Democrat candidate at 29%, followed by Bernie Sanders at 24%. These numbers remain unchanged since the first EWTN poll in November 2019. What has changed is that Michael Bloomberg is now suddenly in third place with 17%. He was previously tied for 7th place with 2%. CATHOLICS AND THEIR PRIORITIES More than nine in 10 Catholic likely voters (91%) say they are concerned about the economy and jobs (70% a major concern, 21% a concern but not top of mind). Healthcare is a concern to nearly nine in 10 (89%), a major concern for 66% and a concern for 23%. Coronavirus too was similarly a priority (88%) with 73% calling it amajor concern, and
