We’ve been easing ourselves back into church, visiting a small one near downtown. The entire congregation is made up of less people than our previous church’s youth group. Our three kids were exactly half of the K-5 Sunday School class yesterday. Granted, a lot of people were out of town for the holiday, but you get the idea. THE SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE OF THE LONG WALK I want to propose the spiritual discipline of the long walk. It is long because the monologue racing through our heads takes a while to talk itself out, and it is a walk because moving any faster would make the world blurry, and this is a practice that is meant to slow usdown.

It can also be a difficult or delightful experience, depending on the day, my mood, the state of 12 THINGS YOUR DAUGHTER NEEDS YOU TO SAY 1. I have hope. I could tell her “Have hope.”But, I speak as a daughter here, it means more to me to see my parents have hope than for them to tell me to have hope. My hope (or lack thereof) speaks louder to her than my words about hope. Show her you have hope – you trust God with your family, you have hope for her future, you see light in dark places. A SENDING PRAYER FOR COLLEGE FRESHMEN They move in to the dorm this weekend and will bring their bags filled with clothes and their boxes filled with books.
