What's a CSA? CSA stands for "Community Supported Agriculture" and for our members it means they can rely on us to grow and deliver the highest quality, freshest produce and eggs available on the market - and at a better value than they can get it anywhere else. We grow 90%+ of everything that goes in your box and anything else will come fromTOMATO SALT
This salt adds sweetness to any dish and will brighten flavors. It has an interesting mix of salty/sweet and is fabulous on pork. For simple, quick hors d'oeuvres, spread fresh cheese, such as ricotta, on crackers then sprinkle a bit of tomato salt on top. De-licious! THYME SALT — EATWELL FARM Mix into mushroom gravy or use as part of your pork rub. Simple salad dressings will benefit with the addition of thyme salt, particularly a fresh lemon dressing. Thyme is a common herb in lentil soup, but it is a tasty addition to many other soup recipes as well. THIS WEEK'S BOX: MAY 31ST-JUNE 6THMay 31, 2021
*POTATOES- Store in a cool, dry, dark place. Should keep for a week or more easily. If you want to store them for longer, say 2 or 3 months, keep them between 45-55 degrees, again in a dry place out of thelight.
*LETTUCE- Keep damp in an airtight container in the fridge. Keeps forone week.
*GREEN GARLIC- Will keep 5-7 days in the refrigerator. Wrap the green garlic in a damp paper towel and place it in a plastic bag; or stick the green garlic in a tall glass with some water in the bottom. *CABBAGE- Wrap cabbage in plastic wrap and keep it chilled in the refrigerator. An alternative to plastic would be placing it in a tightly-locking container that limits air flow. Properly stored, cabbage should last about a week. (OR CAULIFLOWER) *KALE- Refrigerate in a plastic bag, do not wash until ready to use. May keep for up to a week. *PARSLEY- Place in a glass with an inch of water in the fridge. Change water often. Can also be stored in a closed container in the fridge. Lasts up to one week. CHIVES- Wrap in a damp paper towel and store in a plastic bag in the fridge. Keeps about 1 week. CHARD- Remove any bands, twist ties, etc. Most greens must be kept in an air‐tight container with a damp cloth to keep them from drying out. Kale, collard greens, and chard do well in a cup of water on the counter or fridge. Keeps 2-3 days. COLLARDS- Remove any bands, twist ties, etc. Most greens must be kept in an air‐tight container with a damp cloth to keep them from drying out. Kale, collard greens, and chard do well in a cup of water on the counter or fridge. Do not wash until ready to use. Will last 3-5 days. TURNIPS- Remove the greens (store separately) same as radishes and beets, store them in an open container with a moist cloth. (OR RADISHES) BASIL- Trim the ends and place basil in a glass containing about 1 inch of water; then cover with a loose-fitting plastic bag and leave at room temp. Replace the water whenever it gets cloudy. Should keepfor about a week.
*NECTARINES- Store at room temperature until ripe — this usually takes 2 to 3 days. A ripe fruit will yield a bit when pressed gently. To speed up the ripening process, place in a paper bag and store at room temperature, out of direct sunlight. Storing ripe stone fruit in the crisper drawer will prolong its eating life — it should keep for up to a week when refrigerated.0 Likes Share
