MILLER MIDDLE SCHOOL Congratulations 9-R families, students and staff we made it! This was a year for the books and certainly created many new memories. COHORTS TO QUARANTINE-6.2.21 On June 1, 2021 9-R was notified by San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) that individuals at Escalante Middle School tested positive for COVID-19 causing two (2) cohorts to quarantine. The schools and the district are working proactively with the SJBPH to make the appropriate notifications and next steps for those who may have been in close contact with those individuals. Bags will be available Thursday and Friday of each week. SUMMER LEARNING PROGRAM AVAILABLE Durango School District 9-R recognizes the opportunity gaps that COVID has created for our learners. This summer, we are creating a summer learning program for students in Kindergarten-8th grade who have experienced a loss of access to instruction that has resulted in below grade-level math and reading achievement. DHS TEACHER AWARDED CU BOULDER OUTSTANDING HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATOR FOR2021
Ann Tidwell, Chemistry teacher at Durango High School (DHS), has received the CU Boulder Outstanding High School Educator Award for 2021. The award recognizes educators who go above and beyond to support students as they pursue their higher education dreams. DHS STUDENT RECEIVES CU BOULDER OUTSTANDING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT AWARD Ean Goodwin, a Junior at Durango High School, has received the CU Boulder Outstanding High School Student Award, given to high school juniors who exemplify academic excellence, leadership and school orcommunity service.
GRADUATES CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION As the Graduation caps fall to the turf and the excitement of completing high school settles, graduates can begin to look to their future plans. For many, that means additional education or training. DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION UPDATE - MAY 28,2021 District leaders have recently received recommendations from three work groups: The Culture and Equity Design Team, the Significant Disproportionality Work Group, and the Native American Parental Advisory Committee. Their recommendations will guide the district in strategic planning to continue addressing concerns of inequity withinour system.
