Preparation: Hammer the stockfish well for a while (if needed: some stockfish is sold pre-hammered). Soak the fish in water for 1-2 days, refresh the water a couple of times a day. When the fish is well soaked, remove the skin and bones. Take care to remove all the small bones! Pre-heat the oven at 180 °C. The course started with a visit to the opening of the exhibition “Lübeck 1500: Kunstmetropole im Ostseeraum” in the Museumquartier St. Annen in Lübeck. The exhibition highlighted the central role of Lübeck in the late Middle Ages as a centre for the production and trade of (religious) art. WHAT DID THE GERMAN TRADING STATIONS IN ICELAND LOOK LIKE? A trial excavation conducted with Fornleifastofnun Íslands at Landey in the summer of 2016 has shown that both buildings on Landey were indeed dwellings, although rather simple constructions. The walls were built in the Icelandic way, made of turf with stone linings. A fire place was discovered in the western building and no signs of furniture or other equipment were found. Die Kogge ist das Herzstück des Museums. Hinter dem mehr als 600 Jahre alten Wrack verbirgt sich ein Forschungskrimi: 1962 zufällig im Schlamm der Weser entdeckt, zog sich die aufwändige Bergung über drei Jahre. Im Anschluss setzte ein Team von Restaurator*innen die 2000 Einzelteile zusammen. Um das brüchige Eichenholz vorm Schrumpfen zu bewahren, schwamm das Wrack 18 Jahre in einem Tank gefüllt mit Konservierungsmitteln, 1999 wurde die Flüssigkeit abgelassen und die Konstruktion entfernt. Die Kogge bleibt für Wissenschaftler*innen aus aller Welt ein spannendes Forschungsobjekt und gilt als das am besten erhaltene Handelsschiff des Mittelalters.mehr erfahren
