HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS – 17 SEASONAL QUILTS AND PROJECTS In my last post, I teased a new project I was making with red, white, and blue prints. This quilt is called Sparklers and the pattern is from a brand new book by Pat Sloan called _Holiday Celebrations – 17 Quilts and More for 6 Seasonal Occasions. _More on both the quilt and the book below! _*this post includes affiliate links_ Holiday Celebrations is the latest book by quilting guru, Pat Sloan. This book has 17(!) quilts+projects for all of your seasonal celebrations and occasions. Here’s a sampling of a few of my favorites. (All photos by Martingale Publishing.) I think I want to make every single one of these projects! As you can guess, I chose the Sparklers quilt pattern. Here is Pat’s version from the Holiday Celebrations book. Usually I try a totally different take on a project, just to give it a different look. But I was so smitten with this pile of the Liberty quilting cottons Carnaby Collection (coming to stores next month) and looking for the perfect project to make with it. And here it was! The blocks in Pat’s version are scrappier – which I love – but I decided to modify my version slightly by using fewer prints per block. It’s fun to play with fabric placement to change up the look of a block. I love both versions. I paired the Carnaby prints with a Riley Blake Light Indigo wovenchambray
and the Uncle Sam Blossom basic with red, white, and blue tossed blossoms. (I also added a Lori Holt Bee Basic Red Tiny Daisy print because I wanted one more red.) These blocks were so much fun to make! Honestly, if I’d had more of the chambray, I would have kept going and made a total of 9 blocks. The large-scale blocks make the quilt come together really quickly. I’m planning to get this one off to the quilter this weekend. Holiday Celebrations is available now – hopefully from your favorite local shop – as well as online from Amazon, Martingale
Publishing, and The Fat Quarter Shop.
