HOMEMADE FIG CINNAMON LIQUEUR Gently rinse the figs and pat them dry. Cut each into eight sections. Place the figs in a large clean jar. Add the rock sugar, vanilla and cinnamon stick and fill with the vodka. Close the jar tightly and stow it for 8 days in a cool place. Shake the bottle daily until the rock candy has dissolved. Strain the liquid into a small (1 cup capacity ORANGE MARZIPAN STREUSEL CAKE Make the streusel: Whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the butter, olive oil and orange zest to the bowl. Use your fingers or a wooden spoon to rub the butter and oil into the dry ingredients until streusel crumbs form. Cover the bowl with plastic cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Make the cake: BRATWURST IN SOUR CREAM SAUCE In a separate bowl, whisk together the sour cream, salt, and tablespoon of all-purpose flour. Use a tablespoon to transfer the sour cream mixture a bit at a time to the butter/bratwurst drippings mixture, whisking to combine. Simmer the sauce for roughly 10 minutes to create a smooth, thick texture. Do not let the mixture come to aboil.
