Marco Island has been dealing with an issue that goes back to its incorporation as a city, but councilors before today, and even today, have struggled with the issue of short-term rentals. CONDOMINIUMS' RIGHTS TO APPROVE TRANSFERS Section 718.104 (5) Florida Statutes provides that a declaration of condominium, as originally recorded or as amended, may include restrictions concerning use, occupancy and transfer of units. That means the declaration of a condominium must be read to see if association approval is required, and if so, limitations on the association’s power. SANIBEL, CAPTIVA AND GASPARILLA ISLANDS This is known as “The Sanibel Stoop.”. The beaches, both Sanibel and Captiva, have a long history to tell. These islands are both steeped in history. Just as the other islands mentioned before, the Calusa Indians are once again known to have been the first settlers here as far back as 2,500 years ago. Later on in the 1500’s, PonceDe Leon

VISIT TO THE WALL THAT HEALS HAS SPECIAL MEANING Marco’s Frank Keefer is a soft-spoken man, b ut he’s a war hero with two Purple Hearts who was offered a rare battlefield commission in the Marines during the Vietnam War. The last time The Wall That Heals was on Marco Island, Keefer decided to visit. He has a number of comrades who are among those honored on the wall. But his memories of one of the soldiers are especially strong. It authorizes building departments to close some permits that have been issued and outstanding for at least six years. Those permits can be closed without a final inspection, as long as the building department confirms no apparent safety hazards exist. REAL ESTATE DEPOSITS Most local real estate purchase offers are accompanied by deposit of $1,000, with an agreement to increase the deposit to 10% of the purchase price within 10-15 days after a contract is signed by both parties.
