The Steele Creek Branch Library serves the fast-growing communities in Southwestern Mecklenburg County. This 15,000 sq. ft. branch library is located off Highway 49 on Highway 160 in front of the Southwest Middle School. CONTACT THIS BRANCH RESERVE A SOUTHPARK REGIONAL (FORMERLY MORRISON REGIONAL The SouthPark Regional Library (formerly Morrison Regional), located near SouthPark Mall in the Morrocroft development, was built in 1991 with funds from bonds approved by voters in 1987. A major renovation in 2017 increased the square footage from 24,108 to 26,711. A HISTORY OF NATIVE AMERICANS IN NORTH CAROLINA Native Americans who lived during the Archaic Period used similar tools as the people in the Paleoindian Period did, but changes in diet and hunting were made. The archaic period lasted from 8000 BC-1000 BC, when groups of 25-100 native peoples came to North Carolina. These groups moved during each season and lived near the floodplains.
