Although the Hammers werea head of most clubs in having black players such as Clyde Best, by the late 1970’s the fanbase was seen as a recruiting ground by the National Front – during the great run of the boys of 85, I remember a true Hammers hero, George Parris being booed by sections of our own fans simply forbeing black.

Jesse Lingard has not been called up to England’s Euro 2020 squad despite Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury. The Liverpool right-back has been forced to withdraw due to a thigh injury sustained in the warm-up friendly against Austria. West Ham the best option for MoyesAd

The Three Lions have instead named Brighton defender Ben Whiteas his replacement,
meaning Lingard will stay at home. It’ll be a blow for the Manchester United star, who was in such brilliant form for the Hammers after his loan move to the club in the January transfer window and was named in Gareth Southgate’s provisional squad of 33 players, which has since been cut to 26. Lingard did play a part against Austria, and also came off the bench in the second warm-up against Romania on Sunday. England won 1-0 thanks to a Marcus Rashford penalty. White made a total of 36 appearances for Brighton last season, and has won just two caps for his country, both coming in the pre-Euros warm-ups.Permalink

GUARDIOLA PUTS DECLAN IN BUSQUETS CATEGORY! Posted by Hugh5outhon1895on June 7,
2021
in News , Whispers
EXCLUSIVE BY CANDH NORTHERN CORRESPONDENT TERRY ROBBINS Declan Rice has been likened by people at Manchester City to legendary Barcelona and Spain midfielder Sergio Busquets, sourc_es _at the Etihad Stadium have informed_ ClaretandHugh_. And we can reveal City boss Pep Guardiola is understood to be the driving force behind the Premier League champions taking a seriousinterest in Declan.
Busquets was widely regarded as the best defensive midfielder in the world as part of Guardiola’s all-conquering Barcelona team of adecade ago.
And Pep, who promoted Busquets to the first team from the academy, is understood to see similarities between the World Cup winner and Rice. We value Irons value at £100m, should any team come knocking for his signature this summer, and that is more than justified when someone like Guardiola, who himself, was a world class defensive midfielder, rates our man so highly. City are looking to refresh their ranks this summer and supplement further their English backbone of Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling, Kyle Walker and John Stones. Rice has been flagged up along with Tottenham striker Harry Kane and attacking midfielder Jack Grealish, which would cost them the thick end of £300m – surely unrealistic even for City’s deep pockets. City, however, are reportedly ready to sell or trade some of their bigger names, with Aymeric Laporte, Gabriel Jesus, Benjamin Mendy, Nathan Ake and Joao Cancelo, who could supposedly follow Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia to the exit door. When it comes to Rice, City are already aware Irons will not entertain anything below the magic £100m number and have compiled a list of cheaper alternatives. Potentially, Hammers could be interested in some of City’s players as a possible makeweight, but those type of deals very rarely happen, certainly when both clubs invariably value their own respective players much higher than the opposite side of the negotiating table. Perhaps more interesting at this stage is Guardiola seeing Rice’s talent and potential just like we do at the London Stadium. Our City insider told us: “Rice really impressed Pep and his staff when West Ham played at the Etihad in late February. “A few remarked how he reminded them in some of ways of Sergio Busquets – just how he read the game and could break between thelines.
“Guardiola and his technical director Txiki Begiristain are convinced the talent coming through in England right now means players like Rice cannot be ignored.”Permalink

REPORT: HAMMERS MIDFIELDER WANTED Posted by Hugh5outhon1895on June 7,
2021
in
News , Whispers
David Moyes has a decision to make on Manu Lanzini this summer with Marseilles still reported as being interested in the midfielder. The manager made it clear towards the end of the season that he was a fan of the player and had no intention of letting him leave theHammers.
However, the £70k a week Argentinian is continually being linked with a cross channel move whereMarseilles manager Jorge Sampaoli is reportedly keen to sign him. Moyes explained that he has no intention of letting the player leave in a presser towards the end of the season but with two years left on his deal and transfer cash required that now remains to be seen. The latest interest is being reported by _FootMercato_ following a campaign when Pablo Fornals was regularly used rather than Lanzini before Jesse Lingard added to the options. When he did appear Lanzini impressed but was injured again against Everton and that represented the end of his season.Permalink

MOYES SPECULATION IS WAY OFF THE MARK Posted by Sean Whetstoneon June 7, 2021
in News , Whispers
Club insiders insist David Moyes has had no contact with Everton and they have had no contact with him whether directly or viaintermediaries.
The constant speculation filling columns inches is just that, speculation in advance of the Euros which start on Friday. West Ham and Moyes agent brother Kenny trashed out terms to a new three year contract two weeks, the paperwork has now been drawn but there has no pressure from either side to be in a hurry to sign the deal as the football industry has some down time before it all startsagain.
One report by Football Insider on Saturday suggested West Ham and Moyes spoke on Friday where he committed to signing a new contract. The same report suggested Moyes could use Everton’s interest as leverage to secure a better deal with West Ham, or increase his powerbase at the club. Other reports that David Moyes snubbed Everton are equally not true as there was no contact to snub. The club has told Claret and Hugh that the manager will sign his new deal but not to meet a deadline to quell false reports circulating themedia.

MOYES REVEALS SECRET TO HAMMERS TOP SIX FINISH Posted by Sean Whetstoneon June 6, 2021
in News , Whispers
David Moyes has revealed the secret to West Ham’s season success. Speaking in an interview with _The Times_,
the 58-year-old revealed he completely changed his approach to training, showing h can change. “_At West Ham, during the club season, I made a conscious effort to make training more fun than maybe I’ve done in the past,”_ Moyessaid
“I _tried not to keep it so heavy. I thought about the world players were having to live in — there was no opportunity for them to leave the bubble, go to the cinema, for meals or out with pals. We had to make sure that when they came into work they felt they were with theirfriends._
_“You might imagine that amid the packed schedule we would have had to give players more days off. In fact, it was the opposite._ _“Like everyone else in the country, footballers were challenged by lockdowns and the loss of “normal” life and we found they were happy to get out of the house, pleased to be in training, and craved it from the point of view of structure and routine. So there was actually more training — but we made sure that many days there were lighter training loads.”_ CLARET AND HUGH SAY: David Moyes has been called boring, predictable, one-dimensional and dithering in the past. Many supporters didn’t want him the first time around at West Ham and a number were of the same opinion for hissecond appointment.
Last season he proved that a leopard can change its spots and he can still surprise, delight and still deliver at the highest level. Sir Alex Ferguson was right when he groomed him as his successor at Manchester United, his management experience and drive is superb, he just needed the right club and hopefully, he has found that in West Ham. Let’s have no more of this Everton talk, Moyes is ours and heis here to stay.

MOYES LANDS SUMMER JOB AT UEFA Posted by Sean Whetstoneon June 6, 2021

News , Whispers
West Ham manager David Moyes has landed a key ‘technical observer’ role with UEFA for the Euros 2020 finals. Speaking to _The Times_,
West Ham boss Moyes lifted the lid on what his role for the summerwill entail.
_“I went to the 1998 World Cup, as a member of the Tartan Army but this time I will have to keep my professional hat on,” Moyestold The Times
._
_“Uefa has invited me to join its team of technical observers. We’ll be tasked with analysing the games and compiling a report on the tactical trends the football throws up. I did the same at Euro 2016 and have been helping Uefa analyse this season’s ChampionsLeague._
_“Football keeps evolving, and in every season and at every tournament we see something a wee bit different.”_ The 58-year-old manager is currently enjoying a short holiday with his family in Scotland but it appears he will soon be back on duty both in his summer job within UEEFA and West Ham’s pre-season which starts in early July running up to the start of the Premier League season inAugust.

MCAVENNIE WANTS IRONS TO SNAP UP CHAMPIONSHIP ACE Posted by Dave Langtonon June 6, 2021
in News , Whispers
Hammers legend Frank McAvennie has urged the club to do a deal to sign Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall. The Sun
has reported that the Irons are interested in snapping up the centre-back, though they are not alone in the race. Burnley and Norwich are also said to be monitoring developments, with 10m likely to be enough to prise him away from the City Ground. Worrall has made a total of 137 appearances for Forest and is also a former England U21 international, winning three caps for the team. The Irons have had some genuine success buying players from the Championship under David Moyes, with the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Craig Dawson, and Said Benrahma bringing skill and grit to the Irons squad. And McAvennie believes a swoop to sign Worrall would be a worthwhile one for the Hammers. Speaking to West Ham Zone,
he said: _“These boys in the Championship fight for their life. I’m not going to compete with Moyes when it comes to that because he’s different class, he’s good at picking players from therethat’s for sure._
_“Long may it continue, if we can get hold of him then great._ _“Moyes will know who to pick, that’s for sure.”_ Worrall has a contract until 2024 at Forest.Permalink

HERE’S WHY MOYES IS SO DESPERATE FOR JESSE! Posted by Dave Langtonon June 6, 2021
in News , Whispers
David Moyes is desperate to sign Jesse Lingard from Man United thissummer.
After such a fantastic loan spell, in which he scored nine goals and laid on four assists in 16 games, we know that the Hammers will attempt to pull out all the stops to bring him back permanently. After all, he was barely getting a look in under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford and he is at the top of the shortlist of transfer targets this summer. And the Hammers have now released a video showing exactly why! The vid below shows every single goal and assist Jesse had in a claret and blue shirt, including the banging strike against Spurs, the screamer against Arsenal, the clever assist versus Manchester City and that wonderful volley versus Leicester. Any excuse to watch them again, so sit back, get comfy, and revel in just how brilliant Jesse has been on east London!Permalink

FAB KEEPING THEM ALL AT BAY Posted by Sean Whetstoneon June 6, 2021
in News
, Whispers
Reports that West Ham were interested in signing Baggies keeper Sam Johnstone was never on. David Moyes will instead prioritise a striker, a centre back and Jesse Lingard making do with his existing crop of keepers. Johnstone was valued by West Brom at £20m but the money will be better invested elsewhere. 36-year-old Łukasz Fabianksi remains one of the best keepers at premier league level and there was never any urgency for a keeper given that he is keeping them all at bay. He has signed another 12-month extension with West Ham but looks likely to have another two years left in him at the highest level. And his deputy Darren Randolph has a contract until 2023 and has proved he is more than capable in the Premier League. The Hammers also retained 35-year-old David Martin for his experience in helping the young goalkeepers get up to speed. It is hoped that either 22-year-old Nathan Trott or 22-year-old Joseph Anang can progress to the senior team over the next two years.Permalink
