FEATURED WORK
A SHOT OF RACISM AND HATE DURING THE TRUMP ERA TO WAKE UP ANY OF WHITE AMERICA STILL SLEEPING What does a week of compiling racist incidents that went viral reveal? For one, the incidents show that racism, even in its most hateful forms, is ubiquitous, popping “progressive” bubbles and transcending national borders. Together, they clarify what continues to elude much of White America: ending racism is primarily a white person’s responsibility. WHITE AMERICANS ARE STILL CONFUSED ABOUT RACISM – HERE’S “THE TALK” WE NEED TO HAVE White Americans have the privilege to grow up without “The Talk,” but that doesn’t mean they should grow up without a talk. I’ve even readied some talking points for this urgent conversation. ONE POWERFUL WAY TO INSTITUTIONALIZE RACIAL JUSTICE IN OUR SCHOOLS There are solutions to the persistent and egregious racial disparities in public education. Here’s one we need to fight for, one that benefits both marginalized and privileged students. WHITE PRIVILEGE REVISITED Much has been written about White Privilege–so much that I was hesitant to add yet another article on the topic. But current events made a compelling case to revisit it, which I tried to do through my latest Everyday Feminism article. THE STORY OF THE SEATTLE RACE CURRICULUM CONTROVERSY FINALLY IN PRINT It’s finally here: the story of the Seattle Race Curriculum Controversy in print (at least 1700 words of it, anyway). CURRICULUM FOR WHITE AMERICANS TO EDUCATE THEMSELVES ON RACE AND RACISM–FROM FERGUSON TO CHARLESTON The movement for racial justice needs more White Americans to get involved. And it’s our responsibility to help each other get involved–and get involved productively. I compiled this list to help White Americans do so.LATEST FROM TUMBLR
