AMAZING RACE CLUE IDEAS We've done several The Amazing Race events, and have lots of ideas to share for clues and tasks. Our very first Amazing Race party, geared mostly for adult players (plus a few kids), took place on a family vacation in Florida. You can read all about our clues, which involved things like counting post office boxes and drinking milkshakes. MAKE YOUR OWN COOLING NECK WRAPS Working with one color at a time, cut the fabric into strips 4.5" wide and 42" long. Most fabric is 42-44" wide on the bolt, so just use the full width from selvedge to selvedge. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, with right sides touching. Then use scissors to cut each end at an angle. This will make nice pointed ends on the finished neckwrap.
HOW TO HOST A SURVIVOR PARTY THE RULES: Three members of each tribe will use the slingshot to launch balls into the air. The remaining four members will pair off (two kids, two adults) and compete alternately, against the other team, to catch the balls. Players may catch a ball thrown by either team, and may fight to catch or block balls. AMAZING RACE PARTY FOR KIDS TASK #1 - ROUTE INFO: Walk around the entire circle, balancing a golf ball on a spoon. Don't use your other hand! If the ball falls off, start over. There was a big circular drive at the campsite, but you could have your kids walk any marked distance you can manage. This task was much easier for the kids who took their time and didn't gettoo
HOW TO MAKE PHOTO CORNERS For the photo of our old dog Max, I selected a piece of ribbon with paw prints on it. To create the paper corners, I cut the strip down to about 1/2 inch wide, although you could use any width you like. Then I folded one end of the paper back, forming a right angle. Then I folded the other end down, lining it up with the first one, and pressing CARAMELIZED PINEAPPLE RECIPE Put the drained pineapple into a dry skillet. Sprinkle the brown sugar on top and turn the heat on medium-high. Almost immediately, you'll notice lots of liquid in the pan as the sugar melts and the pineapple gives off some of its juice. Soon the syrup will begin boiling and letting off lots of steam. Once the steam has stopped, the water is DIY CUSTOM PRINTED SILVERWARE BAGS Now it's time to print some bags for real! Place two bags on the BASE, face up, and attach the bottoms to the BASE with tape. You'll want to use something temporary, like washi tape or a small piece of masking tape. Or you can use my trick, which was to cut the sticky strip off of a Post-It Note and use that as a tape that holds well and comes HOTEL WELCOME BASKETS FOR OUT-OF-TOWN GUESTS If you have out-of-town guests coming and they are either staying in a hotel or staying in your guest room, it would be a nice gesture to provide a welcome basket when they arrive. This will let them know you are excited that they have made the trek to visit you and want their visit to be memorable. Knowing what items to put into a welcome DIY WOOD YARD GAME FOR KIDS Lay the 2x4s on one of the rectangles, lined up with one end and hanging off the other. WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER WORKSHEET AND CHECKLIST I'm including my free, downloadable, Wedding Photographer Worksheet here for you to download, modify, and use to help plan your wedding. As you go through the worksheet and customize it, here are a few major points to remember: Be specific -- If you've got a great idea for a picture with your father by the tree in the back yard that he planted FUNCTIONAL UTILITY SINK BACKSPLASH IDEA To create a thin, protective backsplash that would be just as easy to install as it would to remove, I purchased a sheet of clear acrylic at Lowes. I went with the thinnest they had (2mm) to save money, and chose a sheet size (28" x 30") big enough to cover the wall behind the sink. You'll find acrylic sheets in the section with glass and CARAMELIZED PINEAPPLE RECIPE Put the drained pineapple into a dry skillet. Sprinkle the brown sugar on top and turn the heat on medium-high. Almost immediately, you'll notice lots of liquid in the pan as the sugar melts and the pineapple gives off some of its juice. Soon the syrup will begin boiling and letting off lots of steam. Once the steam has stopped, the water is MAKE YOUR OWN WEDDING VEIL Once you have decided how much tulle to gather, do so with a needle and strong thread, weaving in and out with small stitches. Pull the thread to gather the stitched tulle so that it is only about 2 inches wide. Knot the thread securely. This veil was gathered in the middle only, so there is no stitching on the sides. DIY CUSTOM PRINTED SILVERWARE BAGS Now it's time to print some bags for real! Place two bags on the BASE, face up, and attach the bottoms to the BASE with tape. However, you might have to make some changes based on late scratches, jockey changes, etc. Consult the internet right before your party and make any last-minute alterations if needed. HOW TO SEW A BUTTON-CLOSURE POUCH Step 4: Finish the top. Flip the bag right side out, so that the outer fabric (for me, it was the striped one) is on the outside, and the liner fabric (yellow) is on the inside. Poke a pencil inside the peak of the triangle to shape it, if needed. Lay the bag out nice and flat and smooth out the edges. Use the sewing machine to run a row of top MAKE COPPER WIND CHIMES To do this, I just cut a little 2" x 4" piece of thin wood, drilled a hole in it, and strung more cord through the hole. Then I just fed the end up through the hole in the clapper and knotted it so the wind catcher hung in place. This additional wind catcher piece helps catch the breeze and make the chimes ring even more. MAKE A PATCHWORK DENIM QUILT FROM UPCYCLED JEANS Once you have enough jeans gathered for your quilt, start by making a pattern. I wanted my finished squares to each be 6" x 6", so I made my pattern 7" x 7", which gave me a half-inch seam allowance around all edges. I cut the pattern out of card stock. Then I took a pair of jeans and laid it out to see how I wanted to cut my squares. CHICA AND JOMAKECELEBRATECOOKCONTACTMETALLIC PAINT POUR FALL LEAVESSANTA CLAUS MERINGUE POPS Hi there!
