DELAYED ENTRY PROGRAM (DEP) Delayed Entry Program (DEP) M ost recruits today join the military through the DEP. This means that you sign a contract, sometimes while still in high school, promising to enlist in the military at some future date, up to one year away. While in the DEP, you are actually an untrained member of the non-drilling Reserve component of themilitary.
CALIFORNIA - REGULATIONS AND LAWS ON MILITARY DRAFT No. In 1997 a bill (AB 397) was passed that required all public institutions of higher education to make “every reasonable effort to inform” male students of the requirement to register with SSS. (California Education Code 35041.3) The bill also denies any student financial aid to non-registrants. (California Education Code 69400.) ALASKA - REGULATIONS AND LAWS ON MILITARY DRAFT REGISTRATION Alaska Statute Title 14 Chapter 43 Section 125 Part 9 (AS 14.43.125, and AS 14.43.172) includes the stipulation that those required to register must be registered to receive state financial aid for higher education. AS 39.25.160 stipulates that those who are not in compliance with SSS registration are ineligible for employment withthe state.
