The Foundation For The Carolinas convened more than 40 regional leaders and organizations to determine the region’s most pressing environmental needs and concerns. From that process, open space preservation surfaced as the number one priority and the idea for the Carolina Thread Trail was born. THE CAROLINA THREAD TRAIL BENEFITS The economic benefits of greenways and trails to the surrounding region are numerous. An economic impact study completed by Econsult, Inc. and Greenways, Inc. in February 2007 measures estimated benefits to a fully built-out 15-county regional trail.OUR FOOTPRINT
Our Footprint. The Carolina Thread Trail Master Plan, created by 88 local governments, is the blueprint for a planned network of over 1,600 miles of connected trails. The Foundation For The Carolinas convened more than 40 regional leaders and organizations to determine the region’s most pressing environmental needs and concerns. From that process, open space preservation surfaced as the number one priority and the idea for the Carolina Thread Trail was born. THE CAROLINA THREAD TRAIL BENEFITS The economic benefits of greenways and trails to the surrounding region are numerous. An economic impact study completed by Econsult, Inc. and Greenways, Inc. in February 2007 measures estimated benefits to a fully built-out 15-county regional trail.OUR FOOTPRINT

Bret Baronak. Bret comes on board the Carolina Thread Trail with a background in public sector land use and transportation planning. Throughout his career, he has specialized in bicycle and pedestrian planning. Bart Landess. Bart brings nearly 30 years of fundraising and nonprofit experience to the Conservancy and the Thread Trail. He came from the YMCA of Greater Charlotte where he served for eight years as Vice President of Major and Planned Gifts. Our Footprint. The Carolina Thread Trail Master Plan, created by 88 local governments, is the blueprint for a planned network of over 1,600 miles of connected trails. Each county’s Master Plan was carefully created to take the trails through key places and points of interest within their communities. THE CAROLINA THREAD TRAIL BENEFITS The economic benefits of greenways and trails to the surrounding region are numerous. An economic impact study completed by Econsult, Inc. and Greenways, Inc. in February 2007 measures estimated benefits to a fully built-out 15-county regional trail. SUPPORT THE CAROLINA THREAD TRAIL!
