It is a relationship that is powered by constant comparisons with others, self-doubt, and in some cases, crippling insecurities. For many, this relationship is reinforced by an explicit barrage of messages, comments and even physical attacks, which tell them their appearance is BE REAL TACKLE BODY IMAGE ANXIETY AT SCHOOLS Denise Hatton, Chief Executive of YMCA England and Wales, a founding partner of the Be Real Campaign for body confidence, said: “With more than half of young people (55%) being bullied about their appearance and 80% of this taking place in school or college, YMCA’s Be Real Campaign is working at source to try and tackle body image anxiety among young people. I REALISED THAT SELF-LOVE WAS THE FURTHEST THING FROM From the moment the first lesion on my skin appeared, I started to withdraw into myself. My confidence was already fragile, like most teenagers, so seeing my skin turn on itself sent my self-esteemspiralling.
