Hours & Tickets. Bellingrath Gardens and Home is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Guests may purchase tickets in the Entrance Building when they arrive. At this time, there are no daily limits on admissions to the Gardens. Blooming in the Conservatory now is a mature specimen of Ponytail Palm, Beaucarnea recurvata.. As best as we can tell, this is the first time we have observed flower spikes on ourspecimen.
HOW WE SCHEDULE OUR EASTER LILY BLOOMS FOR EASTER Bulbs are harvested from the fields in late September and October. After harvesting, the vernalization (cold treatment) process begins. Generally 110 to 120 days of cooling are required before shipping to commercial growers and organizations like Bellingrath. The 15-room, 10,500-square-foot Home was built in 1935 and was designed by the prominent Mobile architect George B. Rogers. The exterior features handmade brick salvaged in Mobile from the 1852 birthplace of Alva Smith Vanderbilt Belmont, who was a notable American socialite and major figure in the women’s suffragemovement.

The 15-room, 10,500-square-foot Home was built in 1935 and was designed by the prominent Mobile architect George B. Rogers. The exterior features handmade brick salvaged in Mobile from the 1852 birthplace of Alva Smith Vanderbilt Belmont, who was a notable American socialite and major figure in the women’s suffragemovement.

Barbara Smith is the Display Horticulture Designer and Plant Recorder at Bellingrath Gardens and Home, where she has been employed since 2000. Before coming to Bellingrath Gardens, she worked in interiorscaping in metro Atlanta. Ms. Smith is a native of Douglasville, Ga., and attended college at Floyd College in Rome, Ga.
