THE STOLEN GENERATION There were a number of government policies and legislation that allowed for the removal of Aboriginal children. One of the earliest pieces of legislation in relation to the Stolen Generation was the Victorian Aboriginal Protection Act 1869, this legislation allowed the removal of Aboriginal people of mixed descent from Aboriginal Stations or Reserves to force them to assimilate into White Society. SAWFLIES - THE AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM Sawfly larvae feeding on a eucalyptus leaf. Sawflies are probably closest to the ancestral form that all hymenopterans (ants, wasps, bees and sawflies) evolved from. However, they are placed in a separate suborder, Symphyta (ants, bees and wasps belong to the suborder Apocrita) based on reproductive and other characteristics. Crusader bugs feed on a wide range of plants, including wattles, sennas and eucalypts and orchard plants (such as citrus) and garden plants (such as roses). Crusader Bugs prefer new shoots and pierce plants with their sucking mouthparts. Economic impacts. Crusader bugs are considered to be minor pests of citrus and wattles.LAURA MCBRIDE

Museum in a Box. Museum in a Box is an exciting outreach program for educational institutions across Australia. There are over 30 different boxes containing real museum specimens, casts, artifacts, dioramas, images, digital resources, books and teachers notes. Museum in a Box is available for set three week loan periods and can be sent to any AUSTRALIAN DINOSAURS Australian dinosaurs are known mostly from fragmentary fossils, although these show that Australia had a unique and diverse range of dinosaurs. Most Australian dinosaurs come from the eastern half of Australia (Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria) although isolated dinosaur bones have been found in Western Australia and SouthAustralia.
