It has been over one year since Idaho’s first COVID-19 case, and a new normal has taken over both the state and the entirety of the world. Oliver MacDonald, a freshman engineering student, is surprised that it has been one year since the first coronavirus MEET THE 2021 ASBSU CANDIDATES The 2021-2022 candidates for Boise State’s student government, the Associated Students of Boise State University (ASBSU) and Inclusive Excellence Student Council (IESC), have been campaigning on and off campus since March 3. OPINION: THE UNITED STATES NEEDS TO SHUT DOWN Every day, more grim milestones are met in regards to the coronavirus pandemic locally, nationally and worldwide. On Dec. 9, Idaho broke a new record of 2,229 reported cases. With news of possibly several vaccinations soon becoming available, many people may hold on to the false hope that the pandemic will soon be over and the virus eradicated, but that is simply not the case. OPPORTUNITY, ISOLATION AND TOOLS FOR CONNECTION: WHAT ART Dr. Manuel Gómez-Navarro of the World Languages Department transformed the “Objects of Resilience” into a virtual gallery, granting access for a longer period of time to more people, a practice Dr. Gómez-Navarro works to incorporate into classes. “I hope the university supports the adoption of this technology not only for future exhibitions, but as part of connecting our students to HOW DOES CAMERA USAGE AFFECT THE ZOOM LEARNING EXPERIENCE The transition to online learning has created many loopholes that have made it more difficult for professors to encourage participation fromtheir students.
