The SfAA has chosen to use the Whova software for our virtual meeting, for security, ease of use, and networking opportunities. IEMBER WORKSHOP :: SOCIETY FOR APPLIED ANTHROPOLOGY iEMBER is hosting a workshop at the upcoming SFAA meeting on April 19, 2021 titled “Collaboration Workshop: Interdisciplinary Networking for Research in Undergraduate Biology/STEM Educational Equity.” The goal of the workshop is to create interdisciplinary teams of researchers addressing inclusion in biology education. iEMBER is NSF-funded and grants modest financial awards to support ORAL HISTORY PROJECT :: SOCIETY FOR APPLIED ANTHROPOLOGY The collection is located at the Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History at the University of Kentucky Libraries. The 132 accessioned interviews are currently listed in the Center’s data base. Many of these interviews are transcribed. 26 of the transcripts have been published, mostly in the Society for Applied Anthropology Newsletter. IN MEMORIAM: WENDY ASHMORE :: SOCIETY FOR APPLIED ANTHROPOLOGY Dr. Wendy Ashmore long recognized as one of the foremost theoreticians in Maya archaeological research in the areas of archaeological settlement patterns, landscape studies, household archaeology, spatial studies and critical gender analysis, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2019 in Riverside, California after a long battle with two auto-immune diseases. Michael Kearney, professor emeritus of anthropology at the University of California, Riverside, died on November 12, 2009, in Moreno Valley, California. the documentation of applied/practicing anthropology through recorded oral history interviews that are properly archived, transcribed, and disseminated. Topics which are important to the project include the experiences of applied/practicing anthropologists in various domains of application in the past, the history of precedent-setting projects, the history of the SfAA and other related organizations and the history of applied/practicing anthropology training programs. Special attention will be directed to interviewing persons that have received awards from the Society. The project also attempts to identify related resources such as oral history interviews relating to the history of application and practice in anthropology.RESOURCES
The SfAA strives to find and create opportunities for students, scholars, and practioners to further enjoy and develop their work. The SfAA Podcast Project is a student-led initiative to provide audio records of sessions from the Annual Meetings to the public, free of charge. We strive to include a broad range of interests from diverse perspectives with the intent of extending conversations throughout the years. Our ultimate goal is to make these dialogues accessible to aglobal audience.
