FAQS
WHY ANCILLA?
Ancilla has a purpose for many types of students. Some may come from a small high school and want a similar experience in college before moving on to a larger university. We may have an adult student who is taking a computer science class to advance their career. There may be an athlete who wants to continue playing a sport they love or improve their skills and then transfer to a four-year school after gaining experience at Ancilla. We have helped students like these meet their personal goals in a small, caring atmosphere. Our students have the opportunity to graduate with a degree, transfer credits to a four-year institution, take needed courses to improve their academic performance, or advance their career with certifications. WHAT DOES "PRIVATE" COLLEGE MEAN? Private colleges are funded by endowments and donations. That means we have a large pool of committed givers who want to see Ancilla College succeed. Our biggest donor is the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ , but a lot of alumni, community members and even our own faculty and staff are invested in providing the best possible education for our students. Being private also means we aren’t beholden to state tax dollars and can follow our collegemission.
WHY A SMALL SCHOOL?
Do you want to sit at the back of a large lecture hall and be a number, or do you want your professors to know your name by the end of the first week of class? Because Ancilla is a two-year college, our total focus is on our students. With small classrooms and high-quality instructors – not teaching assistants – your success is ourreason for being!
WHAT ARE CLASSES LIKE? Our student to faculty ratio is 14:1, which means classes are small, allowing for more interaction with instructors and classmates. As with all colleges and universities, our instructors teach in a variety of ways, with lectures, small group work, hands-on labs, and outside on campus, allowing students to find what works for them. Students learn best when they are able to connect to the material and how it is presented. Most of all, our instructors get to know students and students can feel comfortable approaching their instructors. I NEED TO ADD ANCILLA FOR FASFA. WHAT'S YOUR NUMBER? Our ID number is 001784 if you have questions, Financial Aid counselors can help: 574.936.8898 x. 373 WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? On 1,100 beautiful, wooded acres with a lake in Donaldson, Ind., just west of Plymouth. See our maps pagefor more complete
directions.
