WELCOME TO ALCESTER SINGERS A MIXED VOICE CHOIR BASED IN ALCESTER IN WARWICKSHIRE WE SING A VARIETY OF MUSIC DURING THE YEAR INCLUDING AT LEAST ONE MAJOR CHORAL WORK, A LIGHTER SUMMER CONCERT AND A CHRISTMAS CONCERT. TRIBUTE TO MARIE FLINT Our dear and much-loved accompanist, Marie Flint, passed away on January 25th this year. This was totally unexpected and came as a complete shock to the Alcester Singers. Marie had been our regular Thursday evening rehearsal pianist for over 22 years as well as being Chairman of the choir for the last few years. She and Helen (our conductor) enjoyed a good rapport and Marie was really a repetiteur in that she was able to bring out individual lines to help a particular section and was also able to rehearse the choir if needed. She often organised extra rehearsals at weekends at her house, together with her cat Brahms, when she made us work hard but got results and boosted our confidence! She put a tremendous amount of time and energy into the choir. Her loyalty and dedication was exemplary and she hardly ever missed a rehearsal. She was an accomplished professional pianist and made many radio broadcasts with her piano duo Rosemary Brett Davies. They gave a great many concerts to raise money for charities. Marie first began to play piano when she was only 3, first taught by her mother and then by private tutors in Birmingham. We shall all miss her very much, and not only for her performing skills and musical knowledge. May she rest in peace. Written by Sue Blackburn__ ABOUT US
