The lowland forests, all but depleted, have given way to the French population who inhabit this island. Birds, birding and bird watching in Benin In comparison with some of its neighbours, Benin (formerly Dahomey) has been poorly studied from an ornithological point of view. Dowsett (1993) established the first annotated bird list for the country, totalling 423 species. From 1993 to 2010, 58 additions to the country avifauna were published by several authors and these are listed CAPE VERDE ISLANDS: HOTSPOTS Birds, birding and bird watching hotspots in Cape Verde Islands São Nicolau At Campo da Preguiça and surroundings near the airport, there is a small population of Spanish Sparrow Passer hispaniolensis breeding in the terminal building, one of the very few present colonies on the island. RÉUNION: INTRODUCTION Birds, birding and bird watching in Réunion La Réunion’s volcanic origins with typical steep, rugged terrain have protected its rainforests that cover the high-lying areas. The lowland forests, all but depleted, have given way to the French population who inhabit this island. All of Réunion’s endemic bird species can be seen fairly easily, which will allow visitors to theAFRICAN BIRD CLUB

Birds, birding and bird watching in Benin In comparison with some of its neighbours, Benin (formerly Dahomey) has been poorly studied from an ornithological point of view. Dowsett (1993) established the first annotated bird list for the country, totalling 423 species.
