E-PAPER WEATHER DISPLAY The Hardware. The Waveshare e-paper has an option that comes with a Raspberry Pi-compatible hat, and this makes it very easy to get up and going with. Stick it on a Pi with headers, and load up the right software, and you're off. As such, the actual build here is not very complex, consisting of: A 5.83inch red/black e-paper display with Pihat.

RFID is incredibly common in the modern world - I'm sure many of you have interacted with an RFID keyfob to get into a building, or used contactless credit cards or transit cards. Confusing NFC and RFID is a common mistake - NFC is a subset of RFID technologies, working in the 13MHz frequency range. About Me. I'm Andrew Godwin, a programmer (mostly of Python and Django, though I dabble in others), a public speaker, private pilot, and general collector of interesting hobbies. I'm a Brit who now lives in Denver, Colorado, and an alumnus of Magdalen College, Oxford.GAMES - AERACODE

The portion of the drive through California is one I've done many times before - as it passes directly next to Lake Tahoe, the "local" ski basin for the Bay Area (even though it's A DJANGO ASYNC ROADMAP We shouldn't expect every developer to know about, or want, asynchronous code support. This roadmap lays out plans for a phased introduction of async functionality into Django in a way that can remain backwards-compatible, and gradually make the core of Django fully asynchronous over the course of several releases. HELLO, THIS IS LONDON RISING The resulting output isn't perfect - drawing from something like the OpenStreetMap 3D building data would have been far cleaner - but it's very complete, capturing all the details of London, including railway viaducts, bridges, foliage in parks and even the Crossrail boreholes (which lead to some fun errors as my software couldn't cope with the ground height being negative).AERACODE

CHANNELS 2.0
Channels 2.0. It's been a long road, but finally, I am happy to annouce that Channels 2.0 is released to the world, along with its partner packages Daphne 2.0 and channels_redis 2.0 (renamed from asgi_redis). Channels 2 is a major rewrite, entirely changing the way things are run and how the code is structured, hopefully for thebetter.

Ever since that trip, I keep a travel checklist. This is very on trend for me; I like to keep things organised and know where everything is. If you've met me in person, I'm sure I've praised the checklist as a solution to many problems. E-PAPER WEATHER DISPLAY The Result. The build was nice and easy - you can see some of it in the video above - and my main miss was putting the Raspberry Pi too low in the mount so I can't sit it on a table with a power cable plugged in (it hangs on the wall now, though, so it's not a problem). AVIATION WEATHER MAP So, I've built an aviation weather map with lights at each airport showing the weather. Ever since that trip, I keep a travel checklist. This is very on trend for me; I like to keep things organised and know where everything is. If you've met me in person, I'm sure I've praised the checklist as a solution to many problems. E-PAPER WEATHER DISPLAY The Result. The build was nice and easy - you can see some of it in the video above - and my main miss was putting the Raspberry Pi too low in the mount so I can't sit it on a table with a power cable plugged in (it hangs on the wall now, though, so it's not a problem). AVIATION WEATHER MAP So, I've built an aviation weather map with lights at each airport showing the weather. Two maps, actually - I built one last year for the San Francisco Bay Area, but moving state meant redoing the map, so I've recorded the build in the video above, and I'm writing this downso

About Me. I'm Andrew Godwin, a programmer (mostly of Python and Django, though I dabble in others), a public speaker, private pilot, and general collector of interesting hobbies. I'm a Brit who now lives in Denver, Colorado, and an alumnus of Magdalen College, Oxford. E-PAPER WEATHER DISPLAY The Hardware. The Waveshare e-paper has an option that comes with a Raspberry Pi-compatible hat, and this makes it very easy to get up and going with. Stick it on a Pi with headers, and load up the right software, and you're off. As such, the actual build here is not very complex, consisting of: A 5.83inch red/black e-paper display with Pihat.

It's this range for which Intel has invented the PYTHON & ASYNC SIMPLIFIED As some of you may be aware, I have spent many of the last months rewriting Channels to be entirely based on Python 3 and its asynchronous features (asyncio).. Python's async framework is actually relatively simple when you treat it at face value, but a lot of tutorials and documentation discuss it in minute implementation detail, so I wanted to make a higher-level overview that deliberatelyCHANNELS 2.0
