GUIDELINES FOR REOPENING OF HOSPITALITY SECTOR PUBLISHED COVID-19 safety guidelines for the reopening of the hospitality sector have been published. Number Of People Per Table. As reported by rte.ie, the guidelines, which have been issued by Fáilte Ireland, state that a maximum of six individuals aged 13 years or older will be permitted to sit at one table when restaurants, cafés and pubs reopen next month, but when accompanying children under the UPSKILLING PROGRAMMES LAUNCHED FOR HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM In February 2021, Minister for Further and Higher Education Simon Harris TD launched two national upskilling programmes for employees in the hospitality and tourism sector, which were developed by SOLAS and the Education and Training Boards (ETBs) in consultation with the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF), Fáilte Ireland and the Regional SkillsFora (RSF).
IRISH GOVERNMENT MIGHT PERMIT HOTELS TO REOPEN IN JUNE The Irish government might permit hotels to reopen in June, depending on the COVID-19 situation at the end of May. As reported by The Irish Independent, Taoiseach Micheál Martin said on Tuesday March 30, "Towards the end of May, and depending on progress, we will look at the reopening of hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses in the month of June. "July and August will see more intensive COMPANIES BEHIND THE KEY COLLECTIONS GO INTO LIQUIDATION 14 companies behind Dublin-based accommodation group The Key Collections have gone into liquidation as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. According to The Irish Independent, John Healy of Kirby Healy Chartered Accountants has been nominated as the liquidator of 14 companies behind the group, the portfolio of which includes Dublin's Camden, Gate, Handels and Kildare Street hotels. IHF SAYS AN ESTIMATED 100,000 HOTEL SECTOR JOBS HAVE BEEN According to the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF), an estimated 100,000 of the 270,000 direct and indirect jobs that the hotel sector supported at the beginning of 2020 have been lost due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, and a further 100,000 are currently atrisk.
