Published about 23 hours agoabout 23 hours ago THE MAN OUTSIDE HER WINDOW Kristina looked out of the window. She squinted her eyes desperately trying to see clearly through the dark night. This was not made easier with the heavy rain splattering on her window. She did this every night. Every night before going to bed, she would eat her dinner, make some herbal tea and stand at the window in her bedroom, staring out of it, cup in hand. She did not do this for no reason of course, but after months and months, it had become a routine.*

Published 9 days ago9 days ago 11 BEST HORROR MOVIES FROM THE 1950S The 1950s were a period of time where horror started to become a part of the consciousness of the American population. It wasn't quite something that was taken seriously as it would become in the 1960s, but it was still certainly fun. In this blog, I'll be talking about the best 11 horror movies from that beginning era. They're not entirely in order, except for the first one.*

Published 3 months ago3 months agoFEAR AND FICTION
When we discuss horror in literature, there are several things to keep in mind. What are the cultural currents of the time? What is its era? What characterizes the fear which might be felt by those special few who vie for terror? It is with the mind towards these questions that we should look at horror, viewing it with the strong views that Lovecraft did. He attached horror to several themes present within his own time—in particular eugenics, quantum mechanics, and theosophy. These different themes influenced the way he viewed horror and the way his society would receive his horror. The difficulty of modern times is analyzing how horror should go forwards. We have seen the H. P. Lovecrafts, and Edgar Allan Poes, and Stephen Kings.*

Time is a damned thing. It circles back around on itself, like a snake eating its own tail. Sometimes, events that have transpired, long ago, seem to repeat themselves, as events realign themselves, and tragedy strikes the same spot, on the same date, maybe even at the same hour. A date in time, a day of the year, could draw to it the same mental vibrations that set certain events in motion, long ago.*

It’s unlikely that the settlers of the Southern Nevada desertscape expected a museum of horrors to become a cornerstone of their peaceful early-20th-century city. Yet 88 years later, a decorated hearse, a zombified Spider-Man, and a conspicuous sign touting "Tom Devlin's Monster Museum" have been erected as markers for one of Boulder City's hottest roadside attractions.Book Reviews

Published 14 days ago14 days ago THE GREATEST GHOST STORIES EVER WRITTEN Ghost stories are often called some of the scariest pieces of writing of all time, and they make up a great majority of the horror genre. Written from the beginning of literature onwards, people have always been interested in the movements of those who are already gone and have written many stories for and about them. Some are based on real experiences, some are completely fictitious (well, you better hope they are) and some have grounding in historical or fantasticalrealities.

Published 29 days ago29 days ago 100 HORROR BOOKS TO READ FOR THE HALLOWEEN SEASON Halloween is right around the corner and, with the holiday season presenting many spooks, I think it’s good to remember the literature that can also scare the living hell out of us too. There are many ways I like to celebrate Halloween, and one of them is by reading and re-reading some of my favourite scary reads on the way up to the special day. Others ways I like to celebrate are watching scary films and making some seasonal bakes such as things pumpkin flavoured and biscuits normally containing dark chocolate, raisins and toasted nuts. I’ve always been a big fanatic of Halloween because I love dressing up even if I’m not going anywhere. I like to make cookies and give them creepy aspects. Last year, I made my brother a cookie shaped and decorated like the Slenderman. Anyways, this list is meant to be a bit of fun, so we’ll go through one hundred books you can read to celebrate this holiday season. I’ll talk about ones that are particularly special to me. Before you ask, I only ever include books I’ve actually read myself in lists like this, so you can talk to me about any one of them if you’re having a hard time choosing (I don’t blame you because they’re all so good). I’ll mark some of my favourites with a (*) as well, so make sure you look out for them! Oh, and lastly, these books are in no particular order either.Fiction

Have you ever heard of black-eyed children? I have. Well, these black-eye children are supposed to be tricksters. They supposedly like to trick people into letting them into people’s dwelling. Usually, they approach people in cars at night when the person is all by their lonesome. They claim to need help and want people to open the door to let them inside. Of course, these kids have black eyes and usually spook their intended victims. These black-eye children are believed to be evil demonic nomads.*

They're the stuff of legends and horror, but ultimately we have to remember one thing: it's all fiction. The truth is we often get much more scared at the clown walking down the street in the middle of the night than we do a demon in a sewer drain with a red balloon.*

She lived among the trees like a woodland creature with a ceaseless starvation, cursed to an immortal dwelling upon this wretched Earth. You can see her crawling upon the soil while her moans reverberate into the town. That was her lure, those alluring moans. They seduced the ears of men and women into her clutches right out of the neighboring streets and fields. A succubus full of blood-lust and an envious loathing for mortals. This woman was adept at her craft, deeply convincing with her seductive cries, giving her victims a type of salivating lechery they've never before encountered. She was the public enemy of the supernatural for years. Until the day she caught me wandering the great outdoors of my new hometown...*
