I moved to Hornsea in 1971 where I taught firstly in Hornsea (Secondary) School and later in the Primary School. A busy career and family life plus many other interests meant little time for personal painting for manyyears

CHERRY CUP PRIZE 2019 Cherry Cup Prize 2019. The Cherry Cup was founded by John Cherry, a Hornsea artist who made his living designing and painting heraldic shields. John also ran an art club at Hornsea School. His wife Thelma, who was also an artist and a member of Hornsea Art Society, donated the cup for the School Art Prize upon John’s death.CLAUDE HARGREAVES

After spending some time working on my drawing skills, I developed a particular interest in portraiture and have now moved on to painting in acrylics, still with the emphasis on portraits. 1. The Cherry Cup was founded by John Cherry, a Hornsea artist who made his living designing and painting heraldic shields. John also ran an art club at Hornsea School. His wife Thelma, who was also an artist and a member of Hornsea Art Society, donated the cup for the School Art Prize upon John’s death.TONY HUNTER
Tony Hunter. Sadly Tony Hunter passed away in 2015. He was a long standing member of the Hornsea Art Society, and for a number of the early years of the Society served as Secretary. He regularly supported the HAS Annual Exhibition with his delightful watercolours of village life, and his humorous studies of people and animals. I prefer to paint in oils and my subjects vary greatly. I love sail boats and water and enjoy painting buildings and skies. I have done a lot of paintings of animals and of people too.
