The heart of London Town’s historic area is the c.1760 William Brown House, a National Historic Landmark. Originally, the REOPENING | HISTORIC LONDON TOWN & GARDENS | EDGEWATER, MD ReOpening Policies. We have re-opened in conjunction with county and state regulations as well as guidance from the Center for Disease Control. As such, there are several new policies planned to keep you and all visitors healthy and safe. Masks are not required inside buildings for vaccinated visitors. Historic Area. London Town was founded in 1683 as Anne Arundel County's seat. Its heyday lasted approximately 100 years, but the town soon dissipated thanks to change in trade routes. The only remaining historic structure on site is the William Brown House. The modern riverside porch of the historic William Brown House has become worn down and damaged. London Town will be working with Bleak Hill Restorations to repair the deterioration, ensuring a new, appropriate porch and stairs can be enjoyed by thousands of students and visitors each year.
