5G AND THE ZERO TRUST SECURITY MODEL Press reports today say Dr. Lisa Porter (Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering) has been pitching an open source radio access network plan to major US networking companies. As we’ve explained, we need something like this to resolve the Huawei issue that’s holding up 5G rollouts by small networks.. While 5G’s greatest vulnerability is the massive software needed HOW NOT TO MEASURE INTERNET SPEED THE INTERNET IS MAKING US STUPID The Internet is Making Us Stupid. The Internet is making us stupid because of clickbait. This isn’t a new fact, it’s a reality that’s becoming increasingly hard to ignore as its consequences spread. The Internet is also making us smart because it provides us with easy access to an ocean of information that was hard to come byin the past.
MYSTERIES AND LOOPHOLES IN THE OPEN INTERNET ORDER The Three Loopholes. The no-blocking rule is the simplest part of the Open Internet Order but it has three caveats: A person engaged in the provision of broadband Internet access service, insofar as such person is so engaged, shall not block lawful content, applications, services, or non-harmful devices, subject to reasonable network management. NETWORK MANAGEMENT: WHAT IT IS AND WHY WE NEED IT Network management plays a role in ensuring service reliability. By design, the Internet ensures a good blend of performance and economy by allowing multiple users and applications to access the same pool of bandwidth. But there is also a pool of latency that has to be allocated accorded to application needs. TAKING WI-FI TO THE NEXT LEVEL JOHN OLIVER'S ATTACKS ON THE FCC PRESENTING THE TECHNICAL FACTS It’s said so often that many have accepted it as a truism: “Low-band spectrum is inherently superior. There’s a public controversy about the way the FCC handled the stories of both the 2014 and 2017 ECFS meltdowns connected to Oliver.
