HI! FI! FUNK!: ORIGINAL LOVE X'mas no Hi. Released either right before Takao Tajima joined Pizzicato Five or during his time with them, here is ORIGINAL LOVE's major debut album! It's not jazzy like the stuff they put out in the 90s but it's certainly a gem! Very indie, but with ORIGINAL LOVE's own spin on it. Takao Tajima sounds so young here I cannot believe it.YouTube.
HI! FI! FUNK!: JUNKO YAGAMI 1984. Miss D.J. Kashimiya No Hohoemi. Zyohanasubargu. Donna Shidan Tsukattemo. Believing. Reaching Out. Released on the legendary (to me, at least) Moon Records in 1984, this was Junko Yagami's 8th (I believe?) album. The title song is worth downloading the entire album for anyway, but the rest of the album is also pretty good in it's ownright.
HI! FI! FUNK!: TOSHIKI KADOMATSU Elena. Summer Babe. Surf Breaks. Yokohama Twilight Time. City Nights. Still, I'm In Love With You. Wave. Here is Toshiki Kadomatsu's debutalbum! T.

LaB LiFe were an techno-pop duo founded by Oya Yusuke (now known as SPENCER for his solo project) and Odate Kenichi back in the mid 1990s. They first released a mini-album on an indies label back in 1997 and a year later were picked up by a major label, making their debut withPLANET HEADPHONE.
HI! FI! FUNK!: ORIGINAL LOVE I first stumbled upon ORIGINAL LOVE after listening to Bellissima! by Pizzicato Five. Takao Tajima, the front-man for OL, joined Pizzicato Five for a brief period in 1988 to 1989 and provided vocals for P5's Bellissima! and On Her Majesty's Request albums. HI! FI! FUNK!: SALON MUSIC Salon Music started out as a new-wave duo in the early to mid 80s, but when the 90s came around their sound morphed into a shoegaze/grunge h HI! FI! FUNK!: ANY REQUESTS? Hi! I found your blog today from FUSION WORLD, after sweeping up some Masayoshi Takanaka albums. I love your blog, music like this has gotten me through many highs and lows in life, especially Tatsuro Yamashita's FOR YOU (whose cover makes for a great blog background) and MOONGLOW, which I have played dozens of times in the past fewyears.

HI! FI! FUNK!: THE QUESTIONS [1977 The Questions were a Scottish band formed back in 1977 while the members were still teens. Beginning as a more rock-focused band, they soon morphed into a funky, blue-eyed soul sound as they joined Paul Weller's (The Jam, The Style Council) 'Respond Records' in 1982. They unfortunately only lasted until 1984 with the release of their debutalbum.
HI!

HI! FI! FUNK!: LAB LIFE Here's a bit of a rare item - LaB LiFe's debut mini-album released in 1997. I believe this was an indies release? Not sure, but it's a superb mini and I HIGHLY recommend it. HI! HI! FI! I found your blog today from FUSION WORLD, after sweeping up some Masayoshi Takanaka albums. funk, groove & jazz. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2017THE QUESTIONS
The Questions were a Scottish band formed back in 1977 while the members were still teens. They unfortunately only lasted until 1984 with the release of their debut album. It didn't sell well enough for the label (which ceased to exist soon after) and they eventually had their final live show in November of 1984. Really disappointing that they didn't get as big as they could've as their discography is packed with some gems! I wonder what the members did after disbandment, especially Paul Barry and John Robinson. I wish they could've continued making music like this.Tear Soup (1983)
The Groove Line (1982) Price You Pay (Live, 1983. With added performances by Tracie and TheStyle Council.)

BUGATTI & MUSKER AKA THE DUKES Dominic Bugatti and Frank Musker were a prolific songwriting duo of the 70s and 80s, writing for Nancy Sinatra, Roger Daltry, Chaka Khan, and many others. They released two album efforts; one under the name Bugatti & Musker, another under the name The Dukes, released in 1981 and 1982 respectively. "Mystery Girl" in particular reminds me a bit of Kiyotaka Sugiyama/Carlos Toshiki & Omega Tribe's tunes.Posted by Sara

FRIDAY, AUGUST 18, 2017 NED DOHENY - I'VE GOT YOUR NUMBER Ned Doheny never became well-known in his own country, unfortunately. But his smooth west coast sound caught on in Japan, where he eventually started hosting his own radio show in the early 90s. Unfortunately I don't have an album up for download, but I enjoy this song and maybe you will too? Who knows!Posted by Sara
