The Abbey Choirs. The Choirs at Hexham Abbey are one of our most valuable treasures! They represent the continuation of a tradition of church music in Hexham that goes back to the 8th century and play a crucial role in enhancing and enriching the spiritual life of the Abbey through music.THE FRITH STOOL

STAINED GLASS WINDOWS North Transept. When you arrive in the Abbey by the South Transept, straight ahead of you are the six tall lancet windows of the north wall. The stonework itself dates from the 13th century, but, sadly, the original glass was destroyed by puritans and reformers after the canons were expelled in 1537.THE PHELPS ORGAN
The Phelps Organ One of the jewels in Hexham Abbey's crown, the magnificent and much-loved Phelps Organ was purpose-built for the Abbey. It is a huge presence here, both physically and musically, and plays a central role in the life of the Abbey, being used for both services and regular recitals.
