Hello friend! It's lovely to meet you Hi, I'm Abby and I love all things sweet, with a vegan twist! If you have a craving for rich chocolate cake or love a flaky croissant as much as I do, you're inthe right place.
VEGAN BAKING BASICS: CORNSTARCH + WATER EGG SUBSTITUTE Today is short and sweet, because cornstarch + water egg substitute is one of the most basic and easy vegan egg replacers around, but I always seem to forget about it! VEGAN BAKING BASICS: BAKING WITH DATES After I started the transition into vegan baking, I primarily started with substituting pureed bananas in for eggs or butter.Almost every article on vegan baking pointed to the banana as a suitable substitute, but I wasn’t quite buying it.. Depending on the recipe, the hint of banana was left behind and if I want a chocolate chip cookie, I want a straight up cookie. THE MOST COMMON VEGAN EGG WASH SUBSTITUTES Vegan baking basics are BACK! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts, but I’ve found they are super helpful for just navigating and figuring out how to do vegan baking best.. I’ve covered everything from baking with dates to the wonders of cashews and the process of converting a non-vegan recipe to a vegan recipe.. I’m here to help you out! VEGAN WHOLE WHEAT BREAD Turns out, I needed a lot more yeast and flour than I thought and a lot less messing with the dough. The end result was a super fluffy, easy vegan whole wheat bread recipe that is going to almost convince me to make our bread homemade every week. THE MOST COMMON VEGAN EGG SUBSTITUTES Bananas were the first vegan egg replacement I had ever heard of, going way back to my high school days. Occasionally, my mom would bake brownies with banana instead of eggs and the result was always surprisingly moist, rich, and perfect. MAPLE BOURBON CANDIED PECANS Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the maple syrup, butter or oil, bourbon or vanilla, salt, cinnamon andcayenne pepper.
SMOKED PAPRIKA AND GARLIC ROASTED ALMONDS Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a large bowl, combine the almonds and olive oil, stir with a spoon to coat. Add the smoked paprika, garlic powder and salt, toss to coat evenly. OAT AND ALMOND GRANOLA (MADE WITH How to make granola at home. Making this homemade almond granola is easy peasy. You simply have to combine all the ingredients in a bowl (ingredients include almond pulp, agave, oats, olive oil, cinnamon and nutmeg, salt, vanilla, and hemp hearts).Stir everything together until the oats are totally coated in the almond pulp mixture. HOW TO MAKE A FLAX EGG AND WHEN TO USE IT I have used flax eggs for a bread recipe calling for 2 eggs and 5 egg whites. I used 5 flax eggs instead. It was perfect. I’ve decided to start sharing more simple and savory recipes, partly because my body can’t keep eating desserts all the dang time (if only), and partly because, after putting out the reader survey, I’ve found that many of you want more simple, healthy recipes, which I totally understand.Hence, this easy and savory batch of garlic roasted almonds. HOW TO MAKE VEGAN BUTTERMILK Let’s talk vegan buttermilk! From biscuits to pancakes and everything else in between, it’s the one thing a lot of people don’t keep on hand (who is keeping that regular pint of buttermilk on hand?!) but a lot of baking recipes call for. OLIVE OIL VEGAN BISCUITS I can honestly say that these olive oil vegan biscuits are one of the recipes that I’ve been MOST excited about in the last few weeks. Sometimes I get caught up in making crazy desserts that incorporate a million different things or techniques. when really all I want on a Saturday morning is a good ol’ biscuit slathered with jelly. GOOEY VEGAN S'MORES CAKE Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease 8×8 square pan and set aside. For the cake layer, crush graham crackers or teddy grahams in a blender or food processor until crumbs are formed. Add salt, flour, sugar andvanilla.
OIL FREE VEGAN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES I already had gotten into the banana as an egg substitute situation in these chocolate chip cookies, but I wanted cookies that were no doubt about it, indulgent, lovely, and perfect for a staple cookie recipe.Enter my favorite new ingredient, date paste. I have explained it in a post in the past, but basically, date paste is dates boiled in water for 10 minutes or so and blended until smooth. BEST VEGAN YOGURT TASTE TEST The Yogurts. So Delicious Greek Style Cultured Coconut Milk Yogurt– Like I noted above, we actually tasted the blueberry version of this greek style yogurt.This was the first one we tasted and it was kind of meh out of the gate. The taste was fruity and coconutty, but the real issue was with the texture, which left an almost waxy feeling in themouth.
NO-BAKE CHOCOLATE COCONUT HAYSTACKS How to make coconut haystack cookies. To make these coconut haystacks, you simply have to mix together cocoa powder, vanilla, your favorite non-dairy milk, powdered sugar, salt, and a lot of shredded coconut.
