My children and siblings and their families stand welcoming at the threshold. We are all stronger and safer for it. #1 TRAIN EACH OTHER HOW TO TREAT EACH OTHER Welcome to Health Hats, learning on the journey toward best health. I am Danny van Leeuwen, a two-legged, old, cisgender, white man with privilege, living in a food oasis, who can afford many hats and knows a little about a lot of healthcare and a lot about very little. Most people wear hats one at a time, but I wear them all at once.CEO OF MY HEALTH
The fourth dimension of being the CEO of your health is decision-making. Managing, leading, and learning – living – all include decision-making. Decisions about the care team and the care plan. Decisions about whether to do the tasks that are ours to do. Decisions about how or whether to manage, lead, and learn. BELONGING | DANNY VAN LEEUWEN HEALTH HATS Belonging is fundamental to anyone’s health and well-being. My parents worked so hard to belong. My bones know that I belong. By example, they taught me to stand welcoming at the threshold – any threshold. My children and siblings and their families stand welcoming at the threshold. We are all stronger and safer for it. #1 TRAIN EACH OTHER HOW TO TREAT EACH OTHER Welcome to Health Hats, learning on the journey toward best health. CDS: CHOICES ABOUT YOUR HEALTH WITH YOUR TEAM CDS Connect a library of medical recommendations made useful for programming into electronic records, apps, and software so patients, caregivers, and clinicians can use them as they make choices together. Distraction, hopelessness, annoyance, frustration, fatigue, rage Crossing a threshold can energize or suck energy, depending on the moment and perspective. A pivotal moment for me as a nurse was discovering the opportunities I had to experience some of these threshold crossings, moments of imbalance, with others. ZEN OF RELATIONSHIP-CENTERED MEASUREMENT Relationship-centered measurement. Health Hats: It seems like there are at least two parts to patient engagement. On the one hand, the patient who’s engaged, and what they bring to it with their lived experience, their business skills, their communication skills, their systems thinking, their culture.
