The Office of the Director of the Hayden Planetarium operates out of
the Department of Astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural
History.
Our mission is to bring the frontier of astrophysical research to the
public via exhibitry, books, public programs, and on-line resources.
The Department of Education at the American Museum of
Natural History continues this mission with programs for school
children, families, and teachers.

Welcome to the website for the Office of the Director of the Hayden
Planetarium in the Department of Astrophysics

the American Museum of Natural History.
More than a space theater or a building, New York City's Hayden
Planetarium enjoys a proud legacy that has blended scientific
scholarship with innovative public outreach for much of the past
century. Consistent with our mission statement

the Hayden staff
continues to
conduct research in astrophysics and, of course, to bring the universe
down to Earth.
