This twice-yearly street fair showcases fine artists and craft artisans from around the New York metropolitan area, the nation and the world for two weekends around Memorial Day and two weekends around Labor Day. Attendees come from all over and are a cosmopolitan mix, including art lovers, tourists, faculty and students from the EDNA ST. VINCENT MILLAY RESIDENCE Description. The narrowest house in the Village stands at just 9 ½ feet wide. Built in 1873, it was intended to fill the space of an alley. Famed Pulitzer Prize winner Edna St. Vincent Millay lived in the house in the 1920s. Millay, who had several residences throughout her life, closely identified with the Village. WANAMAKER'S DEPARTMENT STORE Description. This handsome 14-story edifice of 1907 covering a full block is now a Class A commercial office building, but until 1954 it was part of a major retail emporium, John Wanamaker’s department store. Today tech giants like Facebook and AOL call the graciousbuilding home.

In 1860 famed American Civil War photographer Matthew Brady opened his final studio here, naming it the National Portrait Gallery.
