Entry Criteria. This year, we are organising the 15 th edition of the Postcode Lotteries Green Challenge, one of the biggest annual competitions in the field of sustainable businesses. With this competition, the Postcode Lotteries help start-ups from Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden (countries where Postcode Lotteries are located) to bring their green innovations to FAQ | GREENCHALLENGE The Postcode Lotteries Green Challenge is an annual international competition that rewards British, Dutch, German, Norwegian and Swedish start-ups (countries where Postcode Lotteries are located)) that successfully combine sustainability, entrepreneurship and creativity. The jury looks for innovative business plans that contribute to a more SOLUBLUE | GREENCHALLENGE SoluBlue. Ayca Dundar (Great Britain) "SoluBlue has developed a sustainable alternative to plastic and bioplastic food packaging which extends shelf-life and reduces food waste. SoluBlue packaging looks and feels like plastic, but is breathable and hydrophilic, absorbing excess moisture from food and preventing mould growth. N2 APPLIED | GREENCHALLENGE N2 Applied. "N2 Applied has developed a technology that enables local production of fertiliser from liquid organic substrates such as slurry or digestate with air and electricity. The technology adds nitrogen from the air into the liquid substrate and increases the nitrogen content. The reaction stops the loss of ammonia and reduces GHG THE POWER COLLECTIVE The Power Collective is focused on addressing the challenges of global warming by developing practical and environmentally sympathetic sustainable energy solutions. The Power Collective developed the RidgeBlade, a wind turbine that, instead of being located in an open field or the ocean, is mounted to the roof of a building. CINTEP | GREENCHALLENGE Shampoo and soaps are filtered out completely and hairs are collected in a filter. The filtering process, which takes only 25 seconds, makes sure that the recycled water is drinking quality when it passes through your showerhead a second or third time. CINTEP’s technique cuts water and energy usage by 70%, without compromising on flow rate. GREEN CHALLENGE FUND The Postcode Lotteries Green Challenge Fund now invests in three start-ups: Ecovative, bio-bean and recently Land Life Company. Ecovative came up with a sustainable alternative for non-durable insolation and packaging materials and in this way contributes to solving climate issues. bio-bean also has a positive impact on the climate by recycling PHYSEE - GREENCHALLENGE PowerWindows can supply half the energy for a renovated commercial building and up to 100% for a new building. Optional tinted panes for hot climates produce more electricity while cutting cooling costs. The jury praised PHYSEE because its technology adds value to a component every building needs. It’s quite a challenge to disrupt the glass BIO-BEAN | GREENCHALLENGE That’s how, in 2013, he founded bio-bean, the first company in the world to industrialise the process of recycling waste coffee grounds into advanced biofuels and biochemicals. The solar panels attach with simple tools to windowsills, balconies and gutters, so people with limited budgets or space can install them. THE GREAT BUBBLE BARRIER The Great Bubble Barrier has found a way to block plastics and allow passage of ships and fish.
