ALL-WOMEN SHATA CHANDI 2019 The 2nd edition of the World Shakti Day for 2019 was celebrated by GRD Iyers GuruCool as "All Women Shata Chandi Day" along with Sri Vidya Temple Society, Rochester, NY on Aug10-11, 2019. This was a unique and historical "first-in-the-world" type for event for women empowerment as all the rituals including pujas and homams were performed exclusively by women under the leadership of Smt. Sridevi Gayathri Ramesh as Pradhana Acharya or chief priest. The ladies recited vedic suktams and Devi Mahatmyam (both Markendeya Purana and Beeja Mantratmaka) more than the required 100 times and 10

Chandi Homams.

With the blessings of  Devi, Parameshwara and the Guru Mandali, the event was a tremendous success! The 3rd edition of the World Shakti Day for 2020 will witness a historical "All-Women Maha Rudram".

Ati Rudram maha yagna is taking place in Atlanta at SRIM center from 15-19 May with a Chandi homam and Sri Vidya homam on the last day. Leadership for this event is being provided by GRD Iyers GuruCool team as desired by Amma Sri Karunamayi. Of great note is that Amma has kindly agreed to our proposal of appointing only ladies as Rudra Ghanacharyas and also as Chandi Acharyas for this event. This is keeping firmly in line with our principles of inclusiveness and women empowerment in the learning of our scriptures including Vedas and the performance of pujas and rituals. It will be a rare and grand sight to see women take central stage at such an event like Atirudram- probably the first time in the

world.

With the blessings of Mahadev and Sree Durga Devi, we hope to do justice to the faith and confidence reposed in us. Har Har Mahadev! Jai Chandi!

My wife​'s name is Gayathri (G), I am Ramesh (R) and Durga (D) is our daughter and Iyers is our community name. During the Sahasra Chandi 2015 held in Mississauga, my students started referring to me as a “Cool Guru” and we turned that phrase to “Guru Cool” to represent the concept of “Gurukul” or the name given to spiritual schools. And hence our team’s name is GRD Iyers GuruCool.             We have been teaching Vedas since 2004 and Devi Mahatmyam (aka Durga Saptashati) since 2008. Ours is an inclusive approach and we teach all those wishing to learn. We especially encourage women to chant. All our classes are free and the students also enjoy a simple breakfast, lunch or dinner as the case may be, depending upon the class timing. We offer classes at our home and we stream our classes live over Ustream and Livestream too. The classes are also recorded and uploaded

in YouTube.

       Our Veda classes include Rudram, Chamakam, Rudra Krama Patham, Suktams, Mahanyasam, Acchidram, Ashwamedham, Katakam, Udakashanti etc. Our classes also include Devi Mahatmyam, Saundarya Lahiri, Sundarakandam etc.Our classes have been extremely successful as our students have taken part and provided the lead in 3 Sahasra Chandi homams thus far in Canada and USA between 2015 till date and countless Rudra Ekadashi and several Maha Rudrams. In 2017 alone, we conducted more than 50 religious events like Chandi Homam and Rudra Ekadashi, Satyanarayana Puja etc including one Shata Chandi in Aug 2017 and Sahasra Chandi in Navaratri in Sept 2017. Our events are very low cost and planned for participation by everyone, especially women.                   We have a strong mentorship program for Devi Mahatmyam, where senior students provide their support to new students by checking and providing feedback on the audio homework of the students. This is a unique free offering that has produced many sterling students.Our student strength is close to a thousand with more than 600 registered formally in our Telegram communication forum.We have a strong documentation team who are committed to producing quality scriptural texts that make reading easy for beginners in Sanskrit, English, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.                 We have created this website to share with you some of our thoughts, activities, interests and resources. You will find audio links to YouTube for our renditions of Mahanyasam, Devi Mahatmyam, Vedic-Suktas, Upanishads etc. A full recording of Chandi Homam done by us is also available on YouTube. Updates are being made on a regular basis. We have made our utmost sincere effort to do our best with the religious/scriptural content. However, we offer our unconditional apologies at the very outset for any errors in chanting or religious / scriptural text content. _PURPOSE OF THIS WEBSITE_ AUDIO RECORDINGS FOR PRACTICE      During my quest for continued learning, I faced difficulties in coming across audio for the scriptures I was learning. Either they were not available or were chanted very fast by experts that made it difficult to practice along. Therefore, this is our humble effort to make amateur audio recordings available in our website, with the specific purpose of helping amateurs like myself

to chant along.
