The stunning live oak lined avenue beckons visitors to Wormsloe State Historic Site, whose abundant cultural and natural resources have been, and continue to be, shaped by the influences of the many inhabitants of the Isle of HOFWYL-BROADFIELD PLANTATION STATE HISTORIC SITE The enterprising siblings of the fifth generation at Hofwyl-Broadfield resolved to start a dairy rather than sell their family home. The efforts of Gratz, Miriam and Ophelia Dent led to the preservation of their family legacy. Ophelia was the last heir to the rich traditions of her ancestors, and she left the plantation to the state of Georgia WATSON MILL BRIDGE STATE PARK Built in 1885 by Washington (W.W.) King, son of freed slave and famous covered-bridge builder Horace King, the bridge is supported by a town lattice truss system held firmly together with tree nails. At one time, Georgia had more than 200 covered bridges; today, less than 20 remain. Parking in Georgia's State Parks is just $5 and visitors can buy a $50 annual ParkPass that helps fund renovations, trail work, dock replacements and more. A family of five can enjoy a full day of hiking, biking, fishing, boating, birding, picnicking, swimming and more for only one dollar per person. ParkPasses are not valid at statehistoric sites.
TUGALOO STATE PARK

MISTLETOE STATE PARK Mistletoe State Park has 10 fully equipped cottages on the lake, five of which are log cabins. The campground is situated on a peninsula, offering spectacular views of both sunset and sunrise over the open water. A four-bed tent cabin with electricity and water faces the lake. Overnight guests may rent canoes to explore the large lake. HOSTING WITH GEORGIA STATE PARKS RED TOP MOUNTAIN STATE PARK Red Top Mountain has experienced large crowds on pretty days, and park staff may temporarily limit access to ensure social distancing and protect the health of the public and our employees. PROVIDENCE CANYON STATE PARK Guests who hike to canyons 4 and 5 may want to join the Canyon Climbers Club. Backpackers can stay overnight along the backcountry trail which highlights portions of the canyon and winds through mixed forest. Camping, cottages and efficiency units are available nearby at Florence Marina State Park on 45,000 acre Lake Walter F. George.DAMES FERRY
Dames Ferry Beautiful Dames Ferry is the only campground at 3,600-acre Lake Juliette, a crystal-clear lake formed by the Ocmulgee River. Many of the campsites have magnificent waterfront views. Anglers can cast a line for bream, crappie, largemouth bass, striped bass, redear and perch. Boating is limited to 25 horsepower motors. Nearby is the small town of Juliette made famous in the movie STANDING BOY CREEK STATE PARK The Standing Boy Creek State Park is located in Muscogee County just north of the City of Columbus. This 1,580-acre property lies on the shore of Lake Oliver and offers excellent opportunity for hunting, hiking and wildlife viewing. The property is mostly wooded and has good populations of white-tailed deer, turkey, waterfowl and othersmall game.
