Education is the manifestation of love and my most cherished possession. Education drives away ignorance. Through illumination, it emboldens a man to a righteous thought and action and empowers a woman and enlarges the horizon of her mind. It energizes a society and enables a man to earn his living with respect and praise. Located at the entrance of the city, Government Autonomous/Junior College, Rourkela is the cynosure of all eyes. The infrastructure that the college has is second to none. We have dedicated teachers who open the door for the students but at the same time expect them to enter it by themselves. We mould our students to be self confident and pragmatic such that when they enter life after their studies, they face various challenges with courage, conviction and success.

ABOUT COLLEGE

The College started as Rourkela Science College from 16 th August, 1961 and was taken over by Government Odisha on 01-07-1963. With the vertical academic growth of the College was conferred with autonomous status in 2002. In the year 2002 the College was accredidated by NACC with Grade-B. The College offers variety of Courses i.e. Degree level course in Arts, Science and Commerce. The College also offers M.Phil in three subjects(Botany, English, Odia), M.A. in two subjects (English, Odia), M.Sc. in two subjects (Botany, Comp. Science). The College also offers a variety of self-financing Degree Courses in Computer Science, Electronics and Tele-Communication(ETC), Mathematics with Computer(MTC), PGDCA, PGDCH. The College also offers Diploma in Retail Management under Community College and various Degree and P. G. level Courses under Odisha State Open University. The College has been also provided separate Rooms for IGNOU Study Centre.

of knowledge.

• To develop a sence espirit de corps through co-curricular, extra-curricular and outreach activities.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to achieve accademic excellence and to make this premier institution a centre of quality learning by training the students to be creative and competitive enouigh to face the challenges of the New-Millennium. The College Crest contains the name of the college, the view of Blast Furnace, Rocket, a Book with a Lamp. Teh blaze of the furnace, suggestive of Rourkela Steel Plant, symbolizes Science in the Service of Mankind and characterises this college as a seat of learning for scienctific and technical advancement. Teh rocket imbibes the spirit to scientific temper and broadening horizon of man's mind. The symbol of the book with the lamp by its side, stands for study and research.
