I’d mentioned in passing that I shoot in the black and white film simulation so there’s no color in the electronic viewfinder. This month, I'm going to expand on that - how I set my camera up for this purpose. The only FUJIFILM X-SERIES VS GFX: TIME TO UPGRADE? Fujifilm GFX 50R + Fujfilm GSW690III 6 x 9 medium format camera. In 2019 Fujifilm released the much anticipated GFX 50R. It was a rangefinder styled medium format camera, much like the X-E3, just bigger. The price, size and weight was similar to a high-end 35mm DSLR, so I was looking forward to testing it. LAOWA 65MM F/2.8: NOT JUST FOR 2X MACRO REVIEW: XF16MM F/2.8 R WR Being an owner of the extraordinary XF16mm f1.4 lens, the first thing that hit me holding the newly announced XF16mm f/2.8 lens was: This is too tiny to be real. I was secretly hoping to receive the much-mentioned XF33 f/1.0 when I was told there is a new piece of glass to review, but then the XF16mm f/2.8 started to take hold of my curiosity - will this mid-range 're-release' of the full PRIME OR ZOOMS FOR LANDSCAPES The widest Fujinon prime is the 14mm f2.8, which is a great landscape lens, but I like to go wider and this is where I favour the 10-24mm zoom. Yes, Samyang and Zeiss both make a superb 12mm prime, but the 10mm focal length on the zoom provides an even wider angle while covering the focal lengths of the various primes as well. ZONE FOCUSING WITH YOUR FUJI Fujinon XF23mm f1.4 lens showing the depth of focus scale. So zone focusing is basically pre-focusing your lens to a certain distance away e.g. 3 meters and using the ‘depth of focus (or field)’ so that everything within a certain range e.g. 1.5 to 4 meters will be in focus. A few of the Fuji lenses (14mm, 16mm and 23mm) are marked outwith
BURSTS OF OBSERVATION WITH THE FUJIFILM X100F Bursts of Observation with the Fujifilm X100F. So many of us photographers – definitely myself included – struggle with more or less frequent, shorter or longer periods of so called creative blocks. Well, let us first get this one out of the way: IT IS NORMAL. Even more than that: IT IS ABSOLUTELY NORMAL and everyone experiences these EF-X20 FLASH FOR DAYLIGHT STREET PORTRAITS I love the Fujifilm EF-X20 compact flash. It is my favourite flash from any brand and I won't leave the house without it. I love it so much that I put it on every review camera that has a hot shoe, especially if the camera has a leaf shutter. I've used it on the Leica Q, the Pentax Q-S1, Canon G5X, and every Fujifilm X camera with a leaf shutter. In fact the opening image was taken with a non SIRUI 50MM F/1.8 ANAMORPHIC LENS FOR CINEMATIC STILLSANAMORPHIC LENS FOR STILLSANAMORPHIC LENS FOR IPHONEANAMORPHIC LENS FOR NIKONANAMORPHIC LENS PHOTOGRAPHY The Sirui 50mm f/1.8 uses a smooth de-clicked aperture ring from f/1.8 to f/16 with 10 rounded aperture blades for creamy out-of-focus areas. Since this is a manual focus lens, make sure your Fujifilm camera is in manual focus mode and have focus peaking turned on for quick andeasy focusing.
THE SURPRISING ABILITY OF THE FUJIFILM XC50-230MM F4.5-6.7 I’ve heard that a lot of folks are really tired of the word lockdown at this point in the UK. I’m one of them. We are ready for summer, ready to go places again, and ready to be with people again! With all regulations and precautions in place of course. That being said, I’d like to share with you an uplifting experience with Fujifilm’s budget zoom lens that helped me get through ABANDONED SOVIET MILITARY AIRBASE You never forget childhood memories you just have to find them again. Sounds, human voices and scents are especially strong and lively. They a buried in your mind for decades then something ignites them and it feels like being in the good old days. This is exactly what happened when I visited the ghost town. I heard the sound of engines of Soviet tanks we were regularly watching as kids back COLOUR PHOTOGRAPHY SHOULDN’T BE THIS DIFFICULT I struggle to shoot colour. I don’t mean changing the camera out of monochrome mode, I mean pre-visualising colour and composing for colour. Sure, I know a cute sunset when I see it, but I don’t have the intuitive awareness to bring colour composition into my snaps and street photography with the kind of speed a fleeting moment mightrequire.

FLASH OPTIONS FOR FUJIFILM X AND GFX CAMERAS Fujifilm EF-500 (TTL, HSS and wireless remote): This top-of-the-range hot shoe flash unit from Fujifilm was the first fully featured, in-house designed flash unit. This flash is compatible with the widest selection of Fujifilm X and GFX cameras. The EF-500 is heavy and can put quite a bit of strain on an X Series camera top plate, especially THE DIVERGENCE OF THE X100V FROM THE X-PRO3 The original Fujifilm Finepix X100 is the OG. It and the X10 set the aesthetic and functional standard for the entire X Series family of cameras since its release in 2011. The following year Fujifilm launched the X-Pro1 and X-E1, solidifying the design language: Retro Rangefinder. Although the X100 came first, the X-Pro series set the lead when it came to the latest technology. TOP 10 TIPS FOR STREET SHOOTING AT NIGHT WITH YOUR FUJI Lets be honest, most street photographers, myself included are fair-weather photographers. As long as it’s dry, warm and light we are out there taking pictures. But for a lot of us as soon as dusk falls and it gets colder, it’s time to pack up and go home. However some really exciting and atmospheric photographs can be taken at night. The night adds a brand new dimension to otherwise USING FUJIFILM’S TOOLS TO ASSIST WITH COMPOSITION Composition is an immense topic in photography. There are rules to be followed, bent, and broken. There are concepts such as visual weight that will blow your mind with their complexity. While we learn these, however, there are several things we can do to help our photography along the way. Fujifilm have provided us with several tools in the X and GFX cameras to help us with the multitude of FUJIFILM M MOUNT ADAPTER: WHAT’S THE POINT? Making a connection between Fujifilm and Leica isn’t difficult. Fujifilm’s X series has taken design and function cues from Leica’s venerable M Mount rangefinder cameras since the beginning. By creating the M Mount adapter for X Mount cameras, Fujifilm has logically placed the Leica brand even closer to their own. It’s the only official adapter made by Fujifilm to allow another*
