The Departments of Health in the four nations have agreed to support an extra 5 days of shadowing for FY1 trainees in 2021. This is in addition to the usual period of shadowing, to enable FY1 trainees adapt better to their new surroundings and colleagues. ELIGIBILITY APPLICATIONS The eligibility guidance for UKFP 2022 will be published in May 2021. The eligibility application process applies to applicants to the national UK Foundation Programme 2022 (UKFP 2022) who: 1: Are studying at or have graduated from a non-UK medical school, OR. 2: Have graduated from a UK medical school on or prior to 3rd August 2020, OR.

PREPARING FOR F1

The Departments of Health in the four nations have agreed to support an extra 5 days of shadowing for FY1 trainees in 2021. This is in addition to the usual period of shadowing, to enable FY1 trainees adapt better to their new surroundings and colleagues. More information on extended shadowing can be found in the guidance below. MY FIRST YEAR AS A DOCTOR Challenges. My first couple of weeks was a great introduction to being a doctor as I worked as an Anaesthetics FY1. I attended numerous crash calls from the offset in my job, which although daunting at the time gave me the opportunity to develop my skills in IV access, resuscitation and to learn to remain calm under pressure. CLINICAL ASSESSMENT FAQS The stage 1 Clinical Assessment will be held from 16th–20th November 2020 and also on Tuesday 24th November 2020. You must attend the date that is provided to you or you will be removed from the application process. Stage 2 will take place 25th, 26th and 27th May 2021. Progressing onto stage 2 is subject to passing stage 1.
