FORD S-MAX - ALARM PROBLEM - COMMON FAULTS AND PROBLEMS The biggest problem with the S-max is currently the security alarm. It appears to be caused by water ingress into the alarm horn (located under the front nearside wheel arch) and currently the only fix is to replace the sounder with a new part from a main dealer. BUILDING A CAMPER VAN Building a camper van. As the galaxy will be here to stay I'm thinking of turning it into a camper van. Any nice examples would be great. This year I'll keep it simple. See if my girlfriend likes this way of vacation. If successful I'll go for a bigger conversion. For now I'll build a 2 person bed that can turn into a couch in the back.

Faults with electric windows and central locking are quite common and are usually caused by broken/shorting wiring in the door pillar to door gaiter, constant opening/closing of the doors eventually weakens the wiring till it VW TIGUAN HALDEX 4MOTION SYSTEM PUMP FAILURE So I'll start this post by saying that the recommended VW service schedule for the Haldex is 3 years and 40K miles. HAS ANYONE REPLACED OR UPGRADED THEIR SHARAN TO XENON I am not 100% sure on your model of car whether the control unit will still allow the system to work if part of it is missing. Also with HID it is a requirement to have auto levelling and washers,the OE set up

What are they? Mk2 Galaxy's had the option of having Xenon Headlights specified and they also came as part of the "Technology Pack". Xenon headlights, also referred to as HID (High Intensity Discharge) produce a significantly brighter light then conventional halogen lamps and also produce a colour much closer to natural daylight resulting in a sharper, crisper light output.

WATER LEAK FROM REAR NEARSIDE OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT I think he's possibly referring to the pipe which connects the turbo to the EGR valve which allows exhaust gas to flow back into the inlet manifold via the EGR valve, if so then the flanged joint with those bolts is visible in this picture. If you were going to take the head off with the inlet & exhaust manifolds still attached then you wouldn't need to remove these bolts but if you're leaving GALAXY 2002 CENTRALLOCKS Re: Galaxy 2002 centrallocks. The passenger door sounds like the cause of the problem - either you have a broken wire you haven't found, or you have a fault in the lock motor (as the open circuit would be caused as you have disconnected stuff, so thats expected, The missing

Sony DAB Radio. New member, second post. I've just acquired a 13 plate S-Max TitaniumX which has come with a Sony DAB Radio. There's evidence that the previous owner (who lived around 30m away) had the DAB Radio working as the previous DAB stations are displayed. However, they're not working for me at all. VW INSPECTION SERVICE VS A STANDARD OIL CHANGE, WHATS THE Not sure on those but it sounds very much like the bmw’s I have had in the past where you have oil service then next time it’s inspection 1 then oil service then inspection 2 etc. Sounds like the system hasn’t been reset properly to me,have you got service history from previously to see if there is a pattern similar to how bmw Work? REMOVING REAR BOOT PANEL I removed the six screws from the left and right hand sides of the boot, and the 5 screws on the bottom so that the panel should now be disconnected, but it's still connected somewhere. WATER LEAK FROM REAR NEARSIDE OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT I think he's possibly referring to the pipe which connects the turbo to the EGR valve which allows exhaust gas to flow back into the inlet manifold via the EGR valve, if so then the flanged joint with those bolts is visible in this picture. BRAKE PEDAL HARD TO PUSH DOWN It does sound like a loss of servo assistance, could be caused by a vacuum leak, constricted pipe, defective non-return valve in the servo pipe or defective vacuum pump, first place to check though would be the rigid nylon servo pipe from the vac pump to the servo- you're looking for any damage to the pipe, e.g, splits or rubbing through of the tube wall (causing vacuum loss) or signs of WHERE IS THE AIRCON LOW PRESSURE SIDE PORT? Hm, the parts diagrams aren't overly helpful either, it clearly shows one port near a union on the offside of the condenser, I can only hazard a guess (bearing in mind that the diagrams aren't always 100% spot on in terms of visual accuracy) that the little elbow with a cap on pipes 19A705A&B (I think they must be alternative configurations of the same pipe) might be it. It covers removal and repair of the locking mechanism, a common failure across the Ford range where the motor fails to drive the lock. This is characterised by one or more doors either failing to lock / unlock however on observation the interior handle will try and move. SIDE LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT Just had to replace the washer pump. In the process removed the fog/side light (did really need to do this). This model (early MK3) has 2 bolts holding the lamp, accessible from 2 holes through the bumper from underneath. Removing the whole lamp is the only way to get to these bulbs (near side).

It covers removal and repair of the locking mechanism, a common failure across the Ford range where the motor fails to drive the lock. This is characterised by one or more doors either failing to lock / unlock however on observation the interior handle will try and move. SIDE LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT Just had to replace the washer pump. In the process removed the fog/side light (did really need to do this). This model (early MK3) has 2 bolts holding the lamp, accessible from 2 holes through the bumper from underneath. Removing the whole lamp is the only way to get to these bulbs (near side).

RETROFITTING THE REAR VIEW CAM @zooankski - interested to know how you got on with the fitting of the lowline camera Just about to fit a retractable towbar to my 66 reg Tiguan and thought I would add a rear highline camera whilst all stripped out, but after reading your post - not sure highline is the

The cars heater control panel isn't working, the only thing working is the blower (all speeds). CHILD LOCK MALFUNCTION That'll be as a result of them either flattening or disconnecting your battery. Get in and close all doors. Turn the igition on but dont start the car. AUXILLARY HEATER

In my case, I'm afraid I still haven't resolved it! The best price I can find for a new ECU is from Germany at about £180. I've heard a couple of tales of people trying to repair their existing one but be warned- it'll be a b@%$£rd of a job- I got as far as removing my heater from the vehicle for inspection, and I removed the ECU from the heater (you're likely to shear some screws in pursuit PARKING SENSOR BUZZERS NOT BUZZING Hi. neither front nor rear Parking sensor buzzers are buzzing. The Dash Switch blinks when I get near something though. VW TIGUAN HALDEX 4MOTION SYSTEM PUMP FAILURE So I'll start this post by saying that the recommended VW service schedule for the Haldex is 3 years and 40K miles. At the time of writing this my car is just under 3 years old with a mileage of under 39K but I had the Haldex oil changed by the main dealer when I bought it (allegedly) at 31K for peace of mind so technically, my car isn't yet due for its first Haldex service. keep that in mind!

BRAKE PEDAL HARD TO PUSH DOWN It does sound like a loss of servo assistance, could be caused by a vacuum leak, constricted pipe, defective non-return valve in the servo pipe or defective vacuum pump, first place to check though would be the rigid nylon servo pipe from the vac pump to the servo- you're looking for any damage to the pipe, e.g, splits or rubbing through of the tube wall (causing vacuum loss) or signs of GALAXY 2002 CENTRALLOCKS Re: Galaxy 2002 centrallocks. The passenger door sounds like the cause of the problem - either you have a broken wire you haven't found, or you have a fault in the lock motor (as the open circuit would be caused as you have disconnected stuff, so thats expected, The missing

CHILD LOCK MALFUNCTION That'll be as a result of them either flattening or disconnecting your battery. Get in and close all doors. Turn the igition on but dont start the car. Press the child lock button on the drivers door for 1 second, release and then press it again for 1 second. That should reset the system. 03 Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDI 115 Ghia in Spruce Green

SIDE LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT Just had to replace the washer pump. In the process removed the fog/side light (did really need to do this). This model (early MK3) has 2 bolts holding the lamp, accessible from 2 holes through the bumper from underneath. Removing the whole lamp is the only way to get to these bulbs (near side).

In my case, I'm afraid I still haven't resolved it! The best price I can find for a new ECU is from Germany at about £180. I've heard a couple of tales of people trying to repair their existing one but be warned- it'll be a b@%$£rd of a job- I got as far as removing my heater from the vehicle for inspection, and I removed the ECU from the heater (you're likely to shear some screws in pursuit PARKING SENSOR BUZZERS NOT BUZZING Hi. neither front nor rear Parking sensor buzzers are buzzing. The Dash Switch blinks when I get near something though.
