Tele-Vision is far more ambitious than A Cello Rondo, and equally entertaining. ETHAN WINER'S CELLO PAGE Cello-Related Articles. A Cello Rondo is my first cello performance video. If you play the cello, or if you just enjoy cello playing, I promise you will love this video. Ethan's Cello Concerto was featured in the May 1999 issue of Strings magazine, and this article describes the concerto and how it came to be written and recorded. You can view and print the cello solo music, and even listen toPEAK-READING METERS
Peak reading meters, popular in Europe for years, are just now coming into greater favor in America, and for good reason. The main purpose for having a VU meter is obviously to monitor signal levels going to a tape recorder, reverb unit, or some other level-sensitive device, to help optimize the signal to noise ratio of the audio sent to thedevice.
AUDIO FILTERS -- THEORY AND PRACTICE This capacitive resistance, more properly called reactance , is at the heart of all active audio filters. Before getting down to the nuts and bolts, let's first review some filter basics using terms a recording engineer can readily understand. One type of filter is the high-pass(or
AES WORKSHOP VIDEO FILES Below are the original Wave files that accompany my AES Audio Myths Workshop video, listed in the order they appear in the video. Each file plays exactly as heard in the video, with artifacts added, or switching between dithered and truncated etc, at the exact same times as they do in the video. ARTIFACT AUDIBILITY COMPARISONS PART 1: Artifact Audibility. The noise.wav file (70 KB) is the noise burst by itself, so you can hear it in isolation and know what to listen for when the music is playing. The level is at -20 dB rather than 0 because it sounds really irritating. I don't want you to lunge for the volume control when you play it at a normal volume level! SOME EXPERIMENTS WITH TIME Hundreds of unsuccessful attempts have been made by listeners to distinguish the full delay from a wire bypass. Listeners have been of all skill levels using a variety of high-quality systems including arrival time compensated speakers and headphones. SPECTRUM ANALYZER AND EQUALIZER DESIGNS A spectrum analyzer can be a powerful tool for keeping your studio well tuned. Besides its obvious uses - for adjusting octave or one-third octave room equalizers - a spectrum analyzer can also be used to check the response of a tape recorder, or even help identify the rumble frequencies in an air conditioner. An oscilloscope uses an electron beam which creates a dot of light when the beam strikes the phosphor coating inside a cathode ray tube (CRT). The beam is then swept across the screen quickly enough to follow variations in the input waveform. Besides the CRT, all scopes also have both vertical and horizontal amplifiers, as well as avariable
