THE ORIGIN OF BALANCED POWER by Martin Glasband . BACK IN THE SPRING OF 1988, I was approached by a good friend, Rick Perrotta (founder of Matchless Amplifiers) and asked to engineer the electrical system of a new multi-million dollar studio complex that was being built in Studio City, California. His main request was that the electrical system be designed in the quietest waypossible.

Initially Martin had growing concerns about the quality of the power and electrical noise issues in the exploding high-tech electronic world. In 1993 while Equi=Tech was essentially an R&D start up, Martin and associates proposed amendments to the National Electric Code for the use of balanced power. Their solution was elegantly simple and AUDIO NOISE AND AC SYSTEMS REVISITED These are some of the typical responses to the June 1991 article in R-E-P, “Audio Noise and AC Systems.”. The solution to audio noise proposed therein has been well-received by engineers on both sides of the “Silicon fence” dividing electrical and audio/ video industrypersonnel. .
