Ennis Police reported on three recent crimes, each of them open cases that detectives are currently following leads, including a robbery on Thursday, April 29, at 1:15 p.m. at Ennis State Bank, 815 W. Fifty-four years and counting, the tradition-rich Polka Festival is knocking on our doors. Banners began going up this week at Felcman’s downtown and plenty of other locations, including the giant cross-East Ennis Avenue banner as drivers enter town from I-45. Three days and over 40,000 people will come to experience the Czech culture that sparked the growth of our town. MICHAEL JOSEPH JESTTES Michael Joseph Jesttes, age 62 passed away in Tyler on May 12, 2021. He was born on January 23, 1959 to Gene Wilson Sr, and Margaret Louise (Greene) Jesttes in Loma Linda, California. He liked riding his Harley and building things. He was raised in Pomona, California and graduated Gary High School; graduated at El Centro Community College in Dallas in criminal justice. Southwestern Assemblies of God University has announced their 2021 fall football schedule, with six of eleven dates on the road. Four of the away games are out-of-state in Kansas, Louisiana, Arizona and Oklahoma.
