NEW DELHI | JAGRAN LIFESTYLE DESK: In what is turning out to be an alarming situation, as many as six of the 34 Supreme Court judges are infected with H1N1 virus (also known as swine flu), prompting Chief Justice of India S A Bobde to hold a meeting with judges and suggest that lawyers and court staffs be vaccinated to curb the infection. The issue came to the fore after Justice D Y Chandrachud told lawyers in his court room that judges of the apex court held a meeting with the CJI to take remedial steps to check the spread of H1N1. Justice Chandrachud said that it was decided in the meeting to make H1N1 vaccination available for advocates for inoculation. Meanwhile, 37 people have reportedly tested positive for the virus in Meerut. The rising number of cases are being closely monitored by the health department, which has advised people to follow cleanliness and

hygiene.

Last week, the Indian arm of German software group SAP decided to shut down all its offices across the country for sanitisation after two of its employees in Bengaluru tested positive for the H1N1 virus. The rise in H1N1 cases in India comes in wake of the global threat caused by the novel coronavirus which has so far claimed 2,663 lives in China and has affected lakhs of people across the globe. Swine flu had last year claimed over 370 lives in India while leaving over 12,000 people infected. WHAT IS H1N1? SYMPTOMS AND PRECAUTIONS Seasonal influenza (H1N1) is a self-limiting viral, air-borne disease spread from person to person, through large droplets generated due to coughing and sneezing, indirect contact by touching a contaminated object or surface and close contact, including handshaking, hugging

and kissing.

The 'Dos and Don'ts' mention covering nose and mouth with disposable tissue or handkerchief when coughing or sneezing, washing hands with soap and water frequently, avoiding crowded places, maintaining isolation, drinking plenty of liquid and consulting a doctor, the health advisory states. A person should not touch the eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands, or hug, kiss or shake hands when greeting, or spit in public places, and dispose of used napkin or tissue paper in open areas.
