Updated: Tue, 11 Feb 2020 05:59 PM IST Aam Aadmi Party candidate Rajendra Pal Gautam, who held the portfolio of social welfare minister in the outgoing Delhi government, defeated BJP ally Lok Jan Shakti Party's Sant Lal and Congress' Veer Singh Dhingan by a margin of 56,108 votes. NEW DELHI | JAGRAN NEWS DESK: Aam Aadmi Party candidate Rajendra Pal Gautam, who held the portfolio of social welfare minister in the outgoing Delhi government, defeated BJP ally Lok Jan Shakti Party's Sant Lal and Congress' Veer Singh Dhingan by a margin of 56,108 votes. Rajendra Pal Gautam garnered 88,080 EVM votes and 312 postal votes taking his tally of total votes to 88,392 votes, while the second spot was grabbed by Lok Janshakti Party candidate Sant Lal who garnered 32,284 votes. The BJP has not fielded its candidate on this seat instead they are contesting the elections in alliance with the LJP. Expressing gratitude towards the people for AAP's massive victory, Kejriwal says, "I thank people of Delhi for reposing their faith in AAP for the third time. This the victory of the people who consider me as their son and voted for us." "This is the day of Lord Hanuman who has blessed the people of Delhi. We pray that Hanuman Ji keeps showing the right path to us so that we continue to serve people for the next five years," Kejriwal said. In Delhi’s Shahdra district’s Seemapuri assembly seat, the only SC seat in the district has recorded 68.09 per cent of voter turnout during the polls on February 8. The seat is currently held by Rajendra Pal Gautam of AAP. In the 2015 Assembly Elections, he beat Karamvir of BJP and got 63.04 per cent of the votes. In the 2020 Delhi Assembly election, the key candidates in the Seema Puri constituency are Rajendra Pal Gautam of the AAP, Veer Singh Dhingan of the Congress, and Sant Lal of the LJP. The BJP has not fielded its candidate in this constituency under an alliance arrangement with the LJP. In 2015, Rajendra Pal Gautam of the Aam Aadmi Party secured 79,777 votes and defeated BJP's Karamvir who got 30,956 votes. In 2013, AAP's Dharmender Singh received 43,199 votes and defeated Veer Singh Dhingan of the Congress who secured 31,223 votes.
